An editor (edit in article dated 05/23/2020) stated that Cajuns do not practice Catholicism; they did in Europe. This matter of not practicing Catholicism is a weak argument given that Acadie was originally a French colony under the King of France and before the French Revolution. It was an extension of the Catholic and French King and Consecrated, by the Pope and King, to the Virgin Mary "Our Lady of the Assumption". Being that, generally, the King cooperated with the Church on matters of State (contrary to the idea of separation of Church and State"), the aforementioned editor's assertion is hereby refuted. Today, people of Acadian descent do practice Roman Catholicism if, atleast, they have their children baptised in a Catholic Church, and in fact this is true; therefore the argument is hereby refuted.
The Religious nature of the Acadians is important from a historical perspective because it was a point of conflict to consider when analyzing the tensions that brought about the Expulsion by those opposed to Catholicism (Anglican's official disbelief in Transubstantiation vs. Catholic's official belief in Transubstantiation).— Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.69.213.93 (talk • contribs)
