Notability of recent closure

I added a section noting the closure of nearly the entire length of State Route 330 for what is likely to be the duration of the 2011 winter. However, this was reverted by a Wikipedia admin with the remark, "Wikipedia is not a news site." Is it really inappropriate to post any information about closures of extended duration? I based my edit on similar notations in other articles, namely this one and this one (third paragraph). G Sisson (talk) 08:17, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

I'd consider it worthy, seeing how 330 is a main access way up to many communities along the route and to Big Bear lake itself from the greater LA area. 71.160.221.11 (talk) 01:07, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

The proper way to do this is to add a sentence or two in the history. The closure is not important enough to merit its own section. The main thing to focus on is the road washing out, not the closure. The addition was also worded as an item of news, not in the formal tone an encyclopedia should have. --Rschen7754 01:36, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
I added a single sentence that should cover it. EboMike (talk) 00:29, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the fix, Rschen! I had used the wording from the article, but washed out is definitely the proper expression here. EboMike (talk) 00:53, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
