Untitled[edit]

I expanded the article to include a more comprehensive summary, sections on its impact and sections on the three court cases that were filed under it. I think the article is pretty close to complete - I have almost exhausted the sources I have been able to find and think the main topics have been covered. I do want to clean up the formatting a bit, and may do some re-writing. Open to feedback or ideas of what to do with it now that it is more of an article. LGBT?[edit]

The article says, "While the law has in practice served the Latino population, it applies to all ethnic minorities as well as the LGBT community." Certainly it appears to apply to all ethnic minorities and not just Hispanics. But is it really true that it applies to LGBT? The sentence as a whole has a citation, but I can't check what the source actually said unless I pay to access the archives (I've managed to verify that an article with the indicated title and date does exist, but that doesn't mean it was summarized correctly or that the article itself was correct) and I can't find anything else online that would support this statement. The law itself says in part, "'Protected class' means a class of voters who are members of a race, color or language minority group, as this class is referenced and defined in the federal Voting Rights Act". LGBT is not a race, color, or language minority, so I don't see how the law could possibly apply. Ztrem (talk) 22:53, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I managed to find someone with access to the source, and it appears that the claim that the law applies to LGBT is supported by the source (it says "A protected class includes ethnic groups, gays and lesbians.") However, the claim is still plainly wrong - that's not how this law defines "protected class". Ztrem (talk) 23:49, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Santa Clara[edit]

Kaku et al. v. City of Santa Clara should probably be added to this article, particularly since the City broke the record in legal costs defending against a CVRA suit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JGriffithSV (talkcontribs) 23:09, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

California Voter's Choice Act[edit]

Could we get a section or new article about:

"The Voter’s Choice Act in #MarinCounty ! Voters have more choices for how, when, and where they vote. Now, all active registered voters are automatically mailed a ballot, early voting is expanded for more days, & voters may vote in-person at any vote center."
