There is much information that could be added to improve this page.

Cambridge Filter Corporation began operations as part of the Manhattan Project, in late 1941. The company was based in Syracuse, New York, but the name Cambridge was chosen to pay homage to the city Cambridge, Mass. where much of the actual research that the company was involved in took place. This research aimed to develop a HEPA or absolute filter to enable makeup air supplied to laboratory settings to be maximally free of particles. Cambridge Filter Corporation also developed other filter products, notably bag filters.

In 1991, Cambridge Filter Corporation was acquired outright by Farr Company, which began operations in 1937, and manufactured a wide range of air filtration products, noise abatement products, and odour control products. The Farr Company was based in El Segundo, California. At this time, the name of the company was changed to Camfil-Farr.

In 2000, Camfil-Farr Company was acquired outright by its Swedish licencee.

I have added this information to the talk page, rather than the main article as it is very incomplete, covering only the basic details of the history of two very distinct companies. Much more information needs to be added, for example, on the development of the absolute filter, and how its development was critical to the success of the Manhattan Project.
