Scandal section

[edit]

discussion copied from my talk page:

I hope I am doing this right! But I do not understand how the "Scandal" section can be allowed to remain! I have been monitoring vandalism on this site for a number of years as students and others will make inappropriate edits. By allowing this current addition it gives them and anyone else the go ahead to vandalise! Especially as the bbc news report has errors. Please advise. Campionschool (talk) 20:57, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It remains because it is referenced in a reliable and notable source. If there are errors in the BBC article I suggest you take that up with the BBC legal department. Please start a discussion on the Talk:Campion_School,_Hornchurch page if you have concerns. Pontificalibus (talk) 21:04, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I would also add that from your user name you appear to have a conflict of interest. It would be better to raise any concerns you have about the articles accuracy on this talk page than to make edits to the article page itself. noq (talk) 18:12, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As a result of a sockpuppetry allegation made against two users who were removing this content (to which both users are urged to respond), I have reviewed the content that was in dispute, and note that whilst the source cited is reliable, and confirms Lowther's involvement in these offences, it does not name the school concerned, and as such, lacks a reliable source which would support its inclusion on this page. As such, I have removed it, and it should not be re-inserted without proper references which link the case to this school. Mayalld (talk) 13:24, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Very few cases of child abuse name the school so as to protect the pupils involved. However, Terry Lowther was a teacher at Campion for many years until his conviction. He committed suicide in summer 2010.--Shylocksboy (talk) 21:14, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yet, without a source specifically stating the school, it cannot be included in an article about the school. It fails WP:Verifiability. Maybe it can be included in an article on pedophilia in schools in general, or in an article about education in Essex, but unless the school is mentioned in the source, then not here. Who decides what is a source? Can absolutely confirm Lowther was PE teacher at Campion when I was a pupil late 80s early 90s. Realitybitez (talk) 19:34, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
why so quiet? I mean; there’s even threats from the Head if you even ask about this. Catholics will be Catholics. Realitybitez (talk) 12:03, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Alumni

[edit]

I've taken Dorothy Keefe out of the list of notable alumni. "Being a professor" isn't that much of a distinction, and if it were the list should include many more names - Damian Hampshire, Brendan Keely and Angus Kirkland, to name three approximate contemporaries I know of.
