The Lewis and Clark - Ken Burns Connection[edit]

The suggestion that cape disappointment could have been named during the Lewis and Clark expedition of 1805 is incorrect. The 1798 publication of George Vancouver's charting of the Northwest Coast includes maps which clearly labelc. disappointment at the mouth of the Columbia.
