When did Cape Juby / Tarfaya Strip move from France to Spain?

[edit]

The Commons map shows Cape Juby as a “Protectorat espagnol du Maroc” in 1912, whereas this English WP article says that only negotiations between Spain and France took place in 1912, and that the Spanish only only officially occupied Cape Juby on 1916-07-29. I also ask because this map is supposed to show the situation in 1913. It indicates later Cape Juby territory (Tarfaya Strip) as French, not Spanish. Wikipeditor 21:05, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The now deleated Beiruk article said Spain occupied Cape Juby in 1916 and that France and Spain negotiated in 1912. Most likely the current info in this page is a confusion of the relation between these two facts. Spain most likely had, before 1916, yet to controll the area they where given to occupy in 1912 when Morocco was colonized. The other parts of Spanish Morocco defenitly was from 1912. --94.234.196.234 (talk) 23:13, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
