I'm a business student[edit]

I'm a business student who has a great desire to work for this company one day, so I figured that I would completely rewrite this article to get a better understanding of CapGroup. --TROGG 04:25, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding deletion; as far as I can see all information in the page is factually correct? Its def. one of the biggest investment management firms, with just over one trillion managed.. Investment management Seydlitz 14:19, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

People pay thousands of dollars simply to buy into an American Funds mutual fund, whereas they could buy into a fund from Vanguard for free. Why do they do it? Simply because the broker told them to. People are paying thousands of dollars for their brokers advice. Do they realize there is such a thing as no-load mutual funds? --Westwind273 (talk) 06:41, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request edit to outdated information on 13 November 2017[edit]

There is some outdated information that should be updated on the capital group page.

Please replace "$1.5 trillion in assets under management" with "$1.6 trillion in assets under management" - it is referenced here: http://citywireamericas.com/news/capital-group-launches-us-hy-fund/a1064174

Also, the "key people" is missing 2 members. Please add Noriko Chen and Mike Gitlin as mentioned here: https://www.capitalgroup.com/our-company/management-team.html

I work at capital group and would like to help update the outdated information.

Thank you. Cap90071 (talk) 22:45, 13 November 2017 (UTC) (The above requested edit was made by clicking on a link in an automatically added notice.)[reply]

yellow tickY Partly done Not quite encyclopedic to list all 9 members of the board to wikipedia (or at lease not in infobox), so removed from infobox. for aum figure, are there any publicly available audit report for the figure, seem bluffing for the "independent news" that tone like press release. At lease on the company website used a more precise figure, at a specific date, what could potentially have a year to yearly comparison. Matthew_hk tc 06:23, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How about this reference ($1.61 trillion as of Oct 31, 2017): http://www.nasdaq.com/article/5-best-performing-american-funds-mutual-funds-of-q3-cm877158 Wilson90017 (talk) 16:26, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, you have to disclose your COI even though you took a less promotional username. Secondly, whole news article was about American Funds. Matthew_hk tc 16:30, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Even American Funds was a subsidiary, the AUM of the group should be greater than the subsidiary itself. Matthew_hk tc 16:35, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism[edit]

American Funds preys upon low income Americans with its high load fees (compare to Vanguard). I think this should be included in the article. https://impersonalfinances.com/american-funds-load-fees/ --Westwind273 (talk) 03:05, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
