Translation "unnecessary"?

[edit]

@Trackteur:, please can you explain why you regard the translation of "Capitale-Nationale" as unnecessary and why you insist on removing it from an article otherwise helpfully couched in the English language? NebY (talk) 14:08, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Per Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(geographic_names), we need to use - or at least include - the English version of this name. I'm restoring it. JohnInDC (talk) 15:04, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Criteria for inclusion

[edit]

What is the criteria for inclusion into the list? In my impression it is the name. For example Denmark and Iceland have administrative regions with the word Capital in their language in their name, without much difference to other regions in how they is governed. While Norway has Oslo municipality which is not part of any official region, instead the city handles tasks the regions normally do, but Oslo municipality in not named capital region. Denmark and Iceland are listed, but not Norway.--BIL (talk) 13:48, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
