British Capitalism and British Slavery

[edit]

Reading in today's Observer Newspaper review of the new Penguin paperback edition of "Capitalism and Slavery" that it had not been published before in the UK, I went looking for earlier editions. The André Deutsch (London) edition of 1964 has for long been out of print, but I discovered a new edition with an introduction by Williams's old opponent Seymour Drescher and the title changed to "British Slavery and British Capitalism." It was published in 2013 by Diasporic Africa Press of Brooklyn, New York and seems not to be available in the UK. Perhaps someone with access to this edition could determine whether there is anything in the introduction worth adding to the main article? NRPanikker (talk) 07:52, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have this book but in case it"s of interest Solow, Barbera L.; Engerman, Stanley L., eds. (1987). British capitalism and Caribbean slavery : the legacy of Eric Williams. Cambridge [Cambridgeshire] ; New York : Cambridge University Press. ISBN 978-0-521-33478-5. is available on eloan via the Open Library. It has a chapter by Drescher but not the original work. Unfortunately I misquoted the title of Drescher's edition of Williams. It is "British Capitalism and British Slavery" and not the other way round. NRPanikker (talk) 03:19, 24 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
