Heinkel is not female in Hellsing! Just in Crossfire. But thats a completely different character in Crossfire and should not be compaered with Hellsing Heinkel. Read Heinkel's profile on Wikipedia where Hiranos statements are posted.

Yes, thanks, I'm well aware of the interview in Puff magazine last year...and I know they are completely, 100% separate characters. But for now, we refer to Heinkel as "she", because that's what we've been given so far in Hellsing. Check "her" profile in volume 5 (not volume 6, my bad). The profiles may be iffy but it's all we have to go on. Referring to Heinkel as male is incorrect, since Hirano said Heinkel is a hermaphrodite/intersex anyway. If Heinkel is indeed intersexual, referring to "hir" as male is just as wrong as calling hir female.
Until Hirano actually clears up this confusion, or text in the manga contradicts the info we have now, Heinkel can only be referred to as "she" as that's what's used in the manga. Nobody is sure if Hirano was serious (personally, I think he was), and the profiles in volume 5 contradict his statement that Crossfire and Hellsing are separate, even though we know they really are separate. There's too much contradiction and confusion, as well as a lack of actual evidence in the text of the manga. Heinkel in Hellsing obviously isn't "completely" female, but until something comes up, we go with what we have in the manga. I'm hoping another character will make reference to his/her/hir gender.
I am also wondering if Dark Horse simply translated the profile incorrectly. I didn't really know this before, but the Japanese language does not classify nouns by gender, and does not use actual pronouns. The word "she" in DH's translation of Heinkel's profile might simply be an assumption based on the fact that Heinkel was a woman in Crossfire...
I'm pretty sure that men and women have different patterns of speech in Japanese, so maybe Heinkel's way of speaking would suggest his/her/hir gender. I'll ask someone fluent in Japanese about this stuff and report here late. Schrödinger 20:08, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm only reading the japanese versions of Hellsing (so I dont have the english ones) and there Heinkel uses "male language". Atm i dont remember clearly which way heinkel speaks in Crossfire, but i think she uses "watashi" aka "womens language". I think it ll be the best to define Heinkel as neutral as long as Hirano wont tell us about its real gender.

Neutral? What the hell is neutral sex, you call it "it". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.254.46.108 (talk) 07:41, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Really? Thanks...I'm waiting to hear from someone else on this too. It only occurred to me today that Dark Horse's translation could be wrong. Schrödinger 23:12, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mh maybe I ve never seen this translation anyway^^; I just know the original and the german version

TWO pistols?

[edit]

Which page of which chapter reveals Günsche's second pistol? Mind enlightening us, Mr. "Cashin"? --Warp L. Obscura 07:27, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, 82 is it? Well, it could have been stated clearly... Since, for so long, Hirano's only drawn him with one... --Warp L. Obscura 12:49, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Captain's always had two pistols; chapter 82 is the first time he's used both at the same time. See Age of Empire (2) [1], and this page from volume 6 [2]. Is there any reason you put my name in quotes? Schrödinger 19:33, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Points noted. I wonder how this error got unnoticed for so long... The quotation was merely with regards to your username, which had a full name-ish quality to it. No sinister intent was meant. --Warp L. Obscura 13:19, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name Source?

[edit]

Like some of the other Hellsing articles, this one suffers from a lack of source citing. What is the source for the name "Hans Günsche"? I have never seen it appear in any of the manga volumes, nor read it in any interview with the author. If the source of the name cannot be found then I suggest that the article note that this is his speculative name or put his name as simply "The Captain" as he is never refered to as anything else. Nix 00:09, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Hans Gunsche is NEVER written in Hellsing AT ALL! Hance Gyinshuu is Written in a Random Garble of engirsh that isn't even NEAR a picture of The Captain, and somehow that (being how "Hans Gunsche" would be written in Katakana) was acociated with the Captain and the Fans decided it was his canon name. It's possible that's his name in The Doujinshi he came from, but Pip had a Completely different name in his if I remember, so that isn't a reliable source at all. Naming the Wiki article this would make sense if "Hance Gyinshuu" were at least written NEAR a picture of the Captain instead of in random garble of engrish that apprears in a chapter with no appearance by the captain whatsoever.

I too call for his article to just be changed to "The Captain (Hellsing)" until a more solid name appears in the manga for him. -- Demon Rin 11:24PM, 04 June 2007

I agree with this. BTW, the character in "Desert Schutzstaffel" (I don't think that's actually the name of the manga) is called Hans Günsche / ハンス・ギュンシュ. Schrödinger 17:16, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Since Nobody seems to care enough to even acknowledge our information, I am going to Change the Aricle over myself to "Captain (Hellsing) and include a section on his "Name". Should Anyone Object to the change, I'm sorry, but this Discussion has been here since April 30th, and nobody has posted an Objection. --Demon Rin 23:15, 09 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't 大尉 taichou? Schrödinger 18:51, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I typed the "Tai" and I guess I forgot to finish it for some reason... Maybe I went to the bathroom or something... I honestly Have no Idea why I did that... --Demon Rin 15:20, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Strength?

[edit]

I'm unclear as to how Cap is stronger than Anderson. --Warp L. Obscura 14:46, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I havn't seen anything to prove or disproove this either. - Tarkara
I guess we'll just have to stick a citation request on it... --Warp L. Obscura 04:09, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, there's the bit where he puts Seres through a six foot steel floor with his foot. And I saw Anderson get stopped by one well built ghoul in volume eight ergo Captain > Anderson by a LONG way. -- Red Jack
And how do we know if the floor was steel? Maybe it was made of a far cheaper metal. Levels of strength in Hellsing are not measured as they are as in... say... Dragonball Z. It's not as if Anderson or The Captain had a weightlifting contest. For that question, why are we even using Anderson as a "benchmark" for strength levels? I say we take the statement out... it isn't fitting.
I concur useless and irrelevant speculation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.254.46.108 (talk) 07:36, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Captain is far stronger than Anderson. He carves up the floor in The Dawn during his battle with Walter and Alucard, just by sliding across it. He made Alucard's body (The Dawn) and head (volume 8) explode with just a kick. He broke a hole in the floor during his battle with Seras, in which he tossed her around like a pinball. He even kicked a missile that Seras had thrown at him, bending it, and sending it flying back to her. Anderson's punches weren't enough to seriously injure Alucard, and Integra (a human) was able to block his blades with her sword.

However, there are inconsistencies in Hellsing...for example, in The Dawn, Walter is somehow able to withstand the Captain's blows, whereas Alucard's and Seras' bodyparts actually explode when struck by him. So I think we should just remove the statement because it isn't very relevant anyway. Schrödinger 18:07, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Cap.JPG

[edit]

Image:Cap.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Heinkel Wolfe

[edit]

In some Message Boards some Helsing Fans think that the Captain dont Kill Wolfe cause she is German. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.171.114.208 (talk) 15:52, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Death

[edit]

Forgive me if this post is formatted wrong, it is my first. A few discrepancies with the Captain's demise. In the scanlations, Seras picks up the tooth. But in the collective manga, other scenes were added showing the tooth she picked up was a gold tooth, and the captain picks up the silver one and "gives" it to her via kick. Seras (and Pip) see this, and recognize it as meaning that the captain wants them to defeat him. I'm thinking about editing this page. Also, there are a few other differences: sometimes the tooth is listed as being silver, other times the tooth has a silver filling (though I don't think I'll change what's written there). D.M. Thanks for your interest! What would be best is if you could find a third party source that talks about this scene and the differences between the versions. these might be a good start:[3] -- The Red Pen of Doom 00:01, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
