A Good Photo Here

[edit]

Here is a nice photo Capt Teague which should be in this article. http://st.blog.cz/p/piratess.blog.cz/obrazky/16026635.jpg —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.163.72.150 (talk) 14:26, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Deletion

[edit]

I thought it had been confirmed that Keith Richards would be playing Jack's father...

I think that's correct, the entry for POTC3 on IMDB states that Keith Richards is cast as Grant Sparrow [1] ALTHOUGH, this article is about an upcoming movie and as such, some things may change. I'm removing the proposed deletion because of this. ~ Feureau 00:38, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Character Name

[edit]

So, is his name Teague or Grant? The article inconsistantly refers to him as both....

Musha 01:01, 4 February 2007 (UTC) When is this movie relesed?[reply]

Terry Rossio stated on the website Keep to the Code (here http://forums.keeptothecode.com//viewtopic.php?p=340417&highlight=#340417), that Keith Richards' character's name is Captian Teague. It is also ONLY A RUMOR that he is Jack's dad.

Picture

[edit]

I was at the IMDB forums and saw a link to an article on a fansite. Also they had a picture of Keith Richards in a pirate costume looking like Jack Sparrow. Is this a real picture of the character or some kind of promotion thing? (it can be found here: http://www.freewebs.com/potcrf/ and http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h102/crazyredhead707/potc33041.jpg —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mavrickindigo (talkcontribs) 15:52, 28 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

That is not a picture of Captian Teague. As of now, there is NO officially released picture of him.

You're fucking retarded if you don't think that's Captain Teague.

Page Title Change?

[edit]

I think the title of this page should be changed to Captian Teague, since that is what Terry Rossio said his name is on the website Keep To The Code. (This site [2]) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Flamingtorch372 (talkcontribs) 01:42, 6 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Teague, Grant, whatever...whatever you do, it should not be at "Captain [whomever]". Captain Jack Sparrow was recently moved to Jack Sparrow, and this article should also be named according to that precedent. hbdragon88 07:49, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As his name in the film is Teague, I've moved the page accordingly. Thomas Blomberg 18:52, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As of now, they have not officialy named him a Sparrow. He is officially Captian Teague, but Teague Sparrow is fine with me!
Well, if that is so, move the page to Teague (Pirates of the Caribbean). hbdragon88 22:26, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bogus Photo

[edit]

I had to remove the character's photo since it's so freaking blurry.

Assumed Father?

[edit]

Why does the article say assumed father? Was Jack's mother an adultress? Is there any indication that Teague is not Jack's father? Emperor001 16:59, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I for one thought that Teague could possibly be Jack's older brother. I never heard anything in their dialogue to suggest that he is definitely Jack's father. The whole conversation makes sense from both perspectives... think about it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.87.133.199 (talk) 08:15, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

well.....he dis call Jack boy. A possible indication that he is Jack's father. But its a fine desicion to call Teague Jack's Assumed Father. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.163.72.150 (talk) 09:39, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the film it isn't clear if he's Jack's father or not, he could also be his brother or stepfather, but everyone related to the movie I hear says he's Jack's father. Plus, he is taken as his father in the book series, which, I think, is reviewed by the film's writers to not deny anything from the movies.--Midasminus (talk) 17:49, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

'... living with yourself... forever.'

[edit]

The article states 'Teague warns Jack against searching for immortality, saying that living forever is a curse if one is lonely.'. I disagree with that interpretation of 'living with yourself'. I propose that Teague meant that Jack would have to live with the consquences of his actions, his conscience, forever. That's how I understand 'How can you live with yourself?'. Had Teague said 'living by yourself' then yes, loneliness. Besides, has Jack ever been shown to be lonely? Lustful, yes (Elizabeth, the two courtesans on Tortuga)... but lonely? 81.109.221.104 (talk) 12:25, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Jack was lonely, in Davy Jones' Locker. That was his worst fear, not having anyone to boss around, such as being trapped always in the same boredom place. I think what Teague means something different. Jack tries to search for a life that never ends, but Teague tells him that it doesn't matter how much you'll live, as long as you live doing what you like, doing what you think is right. «Living with yourself» I think is another way to say «be yoursef». He might as well have said «Carpe diem» --Midasminus (talk) 17:42, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In "On Stranger Tides" Teague saves Jack from a soldier who is going to shoot Jack outside the tavern and Jack says "Thanks, Father" or something very close. So the question of being Jack's father is answered. Teague also denies finding the fountain of youth in the tavern scene, of course he could be immortal from another source. Captain Teague is imortal

[edit]

one thing was forgotten to be mentioned in the article Captain Teague appears to have reached imortality since jack asks him if "that was the trick" when they talk about jack's search —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.243.221.56 (talk) 14:24, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, Teague isn't immortal. Teague's giving Jack advice as to how to survive, you know, by "living alone", because Teague lost his wife and that ripped him out. BlackPearl14[talkies!contribs!] 19:02, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. There is no real evidence that Teague and his wife had a very close relationship in the first place or that she was dead long enough for Teague to have simply been speaking from the experience of feeling deep personal pain over a few decades as opposed to Jack's goal of eternity. His tone and the general fear the Brethren Court had for him lend credence that he himself had attained some state of immortality and was thus speaking from experience. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.55.69.244 (talk) 23:39, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

I come with this proposal to merge Teague into the List of characters given that the character himself is not a major one in the series, and has not proven notability outside the Pirates of the Caribbean series. The article has not deep coverage by reliable secondary sources and/or impact in popular culture. Thoughts? --LoЯd ۞pεth 04:09, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. See here. Jhenderson 777 21:00, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Weakly Oppose - I'm putting forth a weak argument for the ignoring of rules in this instance and holding off on judgment of the characters importance until the movie, On Stranger Tides, sees fruition. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ 14:00, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
