Military Service and the Maras

[edit]

Although the media has made a correlation between the proliferation of Maras and the elimination of conscription, the data to support it is weak at best. A large percentage of young Honduras who were conscripted were snatched from buses and movie theaters, which can't be considereed a good start for a young person looking for guidance. Conscription was eliminated, but not the military service as such. If a young man is or was looking for an alternative to maras that option would still be available and under much better circumstances. Additionally young men or women join the Maras at a much early age than the 18 year old age limit to join the military. If an alternative is to be available to the youth, it has to be available to them at a much early age. Military service is not one of them. My personal view is that has mandatory military service remained, it would have not made a dent into the current status and proliferation of Maras. Wikihonduras 14:09, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Biased edits performed

[edit]

I see today (April 9, 2007) four edits on former presidents. The Callejas edit was changed to a biased positive view, with many unsupported arguments. The Flores, Suazo and Reina articles suffered the opposite, where unsupported statements and POV were added as facts. Unless someone has an argument against removing POV and anything unsupported, recent edits (April 9 2007) will be undone. Wikihonduras 20:52, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's been 45 days since these changes were introduced. I'll proceed to clean it up and remove all POVs and onsourced material.

Fair use rationale for Image:Reina1.jpg

[edit]

Image:Reina1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
