Updates needed 2024[edit]

This page needs a bit of update or at least some new links to her recent work. However, as I have a conflict of interest, I will only suggest sources -- would anyone be kind to revise..? she is head of UK node of ELIXIR, HDRUK post from 2024 tells more about her background, her Software Sustainability Institute bio has more updated on contributions e.g. to FAIR Data Software Sustainability Institute -- both of which she was part of founding. eScience Lab is her research group listing projects and history. I would suggest also re-evaluating "Low importance" assessment for Computer Science, as she is number 456 in the world for CS and 26 in UK, according to the (quite gender-unbalanced) research.com ranking --Stain (talk) 03:20, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]


Notable enough[edit]

Sounds like a typically good academic. Is she notable under WP:BIO. Article just sounds like a CV.Billlion 07:38, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was pretty much that any professor at the University of Manchester would meet WP:PROF, that case just has to be made in the article.Billlion 22:14, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would hope her notability is no longer in any doubt, as of 2024 she has >40k citations and was given a CBE in 2014 New Year Honours list. --Stain (talk) 03:20, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Full Professor"[edit]

I deleted Full and changed the link to the UK relevant section, as there is no such title as Full Professor. Actually on reflection there are really two categories of Chair at UoM, a Personal Chair, and something that is probably best described as a "Named Chair", like the Fielden Chair of Pure Mathematics (I am not sure what named chairs they have in CS). My guess is Prof Goble has a Personal Chair. As I understand it Full professor is used to indicate a Professor in institutions/countries where they have eg "Associate Professor". In the UK generally, and UoM in particular the rank below Professor is Reader.Billlion (talk) 10:49, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
