@WillyBova: Can you please explain why it is insulting to refer to someone only by their surname? This is part of the manual of style on Wikipedia for all BLP articles, so I'm struggling to see why there's a problem with this. Please also remember to assume good faith when interacting with other editors - we're both here to improve Wikipedia, and edit summaries accusing others of vandalism can be considered uncivil. Marianna251TALK 00:00, 28 July 2017 (UTC) Marianna251 it is Anti-Semetic to refer to a Jewish person by their last name, In my Opinion, I'm Italian, and it is the same of people raised Italian culture, Basically a proper Commonly used First or Middle name should proceed a surname, or a Salutation like Mr, Ms, etc,for instance a one name artist like "Cher" or Madonna can be proper;y respectfully be referred to by One Name, in addition if it is customary to be referred to by your middle name , your Wiki page can exclude your first Name like Willard "Mitt" Romney whose web page is called Mitt Romney, not Willard Romney. However outside that type of exception, it is rude, bad Grammar, Anti-Italian etc to label someone by a last name only, particularly when others in the same sentence get Full Names. So your blanket edit was absolutely Vandalism, and your continued belligerence is Bullying, and anti-ethos of what created Wikipedia for lack off a better linguistic explanation. Wikipedia has literally unlimited space and can properly refer to people by their proper names in a respectful manner, for instance several corrections in the edit corrected the grammar to be consistent within the Sentence. Proper use of Last name like a songwriting team or writing team was left unchanged. Your Blanket Vandalism of reverting the whole edit without regard to the total of the edit is a sign of Vandalism, beyond rude and an abuse of your position as a wiki editor. Your continued reversion of the edit is Vandalism. If you have a problem deal with each Sentence edit. Do not Vandalize edits without reviewing the whole edit, which you absolutely did not do based on the timecode of your edit, you had no time to review the whole edit with an older page, you just bullied another editor and vandalized an edit twice in my opinion.. I accept that it may be considered insulting to refer only to someone by surname in Italian ... but this is the English Wikipedia. It is not reasonable or logical to insist that one language/culture follow the conventions of a completely different language/culture. I've flicked through a few biographies and academic textbooks that I own, and all of them refer to people by surname (with the exception of the biography of the Romanov family, since referring to all members of the same family by surname would get very confusing very quickly). This is clearly not something considered insulting or inappropriate in modern English mainstream and academic publications, nor is it considered anti-semitic - I own a lot of psychology textbooks and Jewish scholars such as Freud etc. are referred to by surname, the same as everyone else. While I respect your opinion, it seems to be something that only holds true in Italian, and thus is not appropriate for the English Wikipedia. Moving on to the vandalism accusation, please be aware that Wikipedia also has a very clear definition of what is and is not vandalism (see WP:VAND). Edits and content disputes, like this one, are not vandalism. Again, I would like to politely ask you to assume good faith and offer me the same respect I am offering to you. Finally, it does not matter who you are in everyday life - on Wikipedia you're just another editor. Wikipedia operates by consensus, and the current consensus in the manual of style is to use a person's proper name once and thereafter use their surname. Consensus can change, so you are welcome to challenge it (Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Biographies is my best guess for the venue), and if your position is accepted by the community then I will change my editing pattern accordingly. It is a losing argument as you have already admitted but for the pedantic claim of "English" wikipedia's absolute claim to allow socially unacceptable insulting context. It is an insult in English to use last names online other cultures besides Italian and Jewish cultures that was just the example I used to make my point. It is also bad grammar, to use a Surname to begin a sentence, particularly when other names used in the same sentence are used as full names granted it is a Flaw in the wiki model, the policy your are pontificating, because of the wiki model, and are full page hyperlinks, mostly use full names, so defending bad grammar and insulting absolutes of a Surname policy that clearly has options as I can list hundreds of pages that properly use full names who appropriate, is absurd and circular. Defending an absolute, to defend an infinite by definition language that actual "English" is, appears to any educated writer to be absurd. Are you claiming this is "Wikipedia English"a new language that is separate from "English"? Which I might ad is one of the most difficult to properly learn and speak as to it's Past, Present, and Future, structure and that it is infinite be definition.
