Release Dates

[edit]

Changed release dates to reflect what is information is being released by Mattel. The Nov. 1st date seems pretty firm with the DVD coming out on the 7th of the same month. The January date is probably about as solid as the September date turned out to be. Flagg 29

WAVE #3

[edit]

Is Dinoco Chick really gonna be released?? Which additonal Piston Cup racers?! Their releasing Fred and Rusty??!!!! :D

...Or is it vandalism Fishhead 19:14, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's not vandalism. At least, not deliberate vandalism on my part. If you go to this message board and look at the "List of New Car Releases from Mattel" thread in the "Cars - The Toys" section, it will give you a list of cars that are slated for release, either in Wave 3 or 4.

I wish to apologise in advance for my edits if this information is eventually proven fraudulent. I made those edits in good faith. RMS Oceanic 21:40, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah ain't never seen NO Single Pack of Cruisin' McQueen in the stores! Didn't even know 'twere available until Ah went ta ToyWiz.com 'n dern seen it thar wit' muh own four eyes! (Ah wear glasses ...) Rpaltza 20:47, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Rpaltza[reply]

Frank?

[edit]

Anyone know if the combine harvester Frank is ever going to be released?

There are no known plans to release Frank at this time. RMS Oceanic 11:19, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blue Bowlin' Mater

[edit]

I feel Blue Bowlin' Mater is more accurately described as "not seen in film" as opposed to "based on flashback sequence". I thought I'd initiate this discussion before editting it further, since it has already been editted back and forth a couple times.

As has been written, Brand New Mater is the one in the flashback sequence. And Blue Bowlin' Mater is different in many ways from Brand New Mater. Blue Bowlin' Mater is missing his hood and headlight, and has a completely different graphic on the side. It may be conjectured that Blue Bowlin' Mater existed somewhere in time between Brand New Mater and standard rusty brown Mater. So you could say that Blue Bowlin' Mater is based on Brand New Mater, but no more so than standard rusty brown Mater is based on Brand New Mater. One is just older than the other. And the fact is, there is no scene in the movie that portrays Mater during his Blue Bowlin' phase.

So to me, the "based on . . " descriptor is a little unclear and potentially misleading as a reader might go away thinking Blue Bowlin' and Brand New are one and the same, whereas "not seen in film" is a factual and more informative statement.

Common/Uncommon

[edit]

I don't think Dinoco McQueen is that uncommon, at my local Target there were more Dinoco McQueens than all the other cars put together. Many other stores around my area (South Central PA) have had many Dinoco McQueen.

P.S. I picked up a Chick and a King at the Target :)

I have the complete set of cars from the old desert background edition. - Tyler

Yeah, I think the common/uncommon/rare system is a little too subjective to be put on the article. I'm gonna remove it. RMS Oceanic 15:54, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ka Chow!!! Fishhead 11:34 UTC, 24 November '06
Speaking of common/uncommon, three CARS die-cast models I AIN'T seen in the Supercharged series are Sarge, Fillmore or Cruising McQueen (the latter, of course, is quite prevalent in the two-pack with Sally). Is either Supercharged Sarge or Fillmore rare? Rpaltza 19:17, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Doc's Lisence Plate

[edit]

Anybody who has a Doc, can you tell me if he has a lisence plate cause my Doc seems to not have one or is he not supposed to have the plate. Carburator County 51HHMD Fishhead 5:45 UTC, 24 November '06

Both Regular Doc and Hudson Hornet are missing their License Plate. RMS Oceanic 18:02, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Good, I was just about to sell it because of the "error". Fishhead 11:57 UTC, 25 November '06

Wave 4 Discussion

[edit]

At one point, the list here included numerous other double packs, including The King & Mrs. The King, Rusty & Dusty, etc. What prompted their addition and subsequent removal?

I manage the toy dept. at my local Wal-mart, and so far I've only seen the Ferrari Luigi & Guido and the Mike & Sully packs, but I'm hoping for the others as well. I have several friends whose kids love these things! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Romans1423 (talkcontribs) 05:49, 4 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I have been to ToysRUs's, Wal-Marts and Targets in my neck o' the woods in Riverside County (CA), and have seen NOTHING of the WAVE #4 Single Packs. I HAVE seen (and purchased) the Mike'n'Sulley and Ferrari Fans Movie Moments, and have seen even last December some of the Triple Packs (basically repackaged reissues). Is this non-issuance of the Single Packs, supposedly slated for Jan (Feb?) 2007, a conspiracy on Mattel's part? I've talked with toy dept. purchasing people, and they say they have NO control over what comes in from Mattel. Rpaltza 00:12, 8 February 2007 (UTC) Rpaltza 00:05, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Rpaltza, you've been told right; as a dept. mgr., I can only order a case of any specific toy. For instance, if I ordered a case of the Cars single packs, I'd get 18 cars (or however many is in a case), but I'd have no say over which 18 they were. I have had to tell several customers looking for a specific action figure or other toy that I'd be happy to order another case of the product, but that wouldn't guarantee us getting in the one they are looking for. At my store of the 2007 cars, I have only seen the Mike & Sully and Ferrari Luigi & Guido Movie Moments packs. One-hundred sixty-two single packs should have arrived at my store tonight, and I'll be checking them out probably first thing in the morning when I get to work. Hopefully with that many coming in, I'll see some of the new single packs, if they exist. --Rick Beckman 03:59, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The only thing we got at our store in that shipment of 162 was a bunch of Wave 3 cars. Do Wave 4 cars exist outside of the two Movie Moments packs? Does anyone know for sure? --Rick Beckman 01:00, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have come across a retailer with Yeti available (for $12.99, at the moment)[1]. Whether the rest of Wave 4 is coming or not remains to be seen. Another 160+ have been placed on order at our store by home office, so I have my fingers crossed. --Rick Beckman 23:07, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I actually called Mattel Consumer Affairs and asked if any other CARS were going to be produced. They confirmed the following single pack cars: Dinoco Chick, Red Ramone, Tex, Bob Cutlass, Darrell Cartrip, Fred, The Yetti, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Mario Andretti, Bug Faced McQueen, Bling-Bling McQueen, the Michael Schumacker Ferrari. They also confirmed the following Movie Moment 2 pack...P.T.Flea & Flik, Mia & Tia, Rusty & Dusty, and The King & Mrs. The King. ACW

I forgot to say that Mattel would not confirm any specific dates but said that they would be released throughout the Spring of '07. ACW—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.125.61.147 (talkcontribs) 1942:, 16 February 2007 (UTC).

You say this, but can you verify it for Wikipedia? Why would you make this claim and its your only edit? Until we see them in shops or have an official Mattel source, I think the information should not be included on the page. RMS Oceanic 01:01, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More Information Added to the List?

[edit]

Rather than this basic check-list form list of the Cars Character Cars, could more information be added? Plenty is available,[2] and incorporating the information here will make this a much more valuable article, further justifying its not being deleted back when such was suggested. --Rick Beckman 23:16, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wave 4 rumored Cars

[edit]

The following are repeatedly added, and I cannot find any information out there that might lend credence to these being actual toys slated for release; unless something that can substantiate their place in the list can be produced, I don't think they should be added:

  • Piston Cup Racers
  • Elvis RV Cab
  • Bob
  • Darrell
  • Oil Guzzler RV
  • Fred
  • Junior
  • Tex

"Other" List?

[edit]

Do we want an "Other" list filled with a bunch of non-diecast toys? It was added recently, and it doesn't seem like it should be there.--Rick Beckman 22:17, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now there's an "other cars toys' list? Is this a generic cars toys article or a 1/55th scale diecast toy article? I'm confused. Can someone please help sort this out? Thanks. --Rick Beckman 22:39, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Scope of article

[edit]

Okay, this is a CARS DIECAST LINE article; if the toy is not part of the Cars Diecast Line from Mattel, please do not add it. This is not a generic Cars Toys List. Thanks. --Rick Beckman 05:30, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures??

[edit]

Any chance of some pictures? From the back of the boxes perhaps? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Siminz (talkcontribs) 07:58, 9 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]
