What does "Olof Mem was fasting at the district thing" mean? Giano (talk) 16:48, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oh, it's a totally cool habit they practice in Smaland. You'll have to ask Bishzilla, cause she's a hardcore faster at various things. Pretty much straight up via Google translation from Byn omfattade två gårdar och nämns första gången 1379 då en Olof i Mem var faste på häradstinget. Drmies (talk) 02:16, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Giano, you're speaking in tongues, what happened? That's perfect Swedish, made me blink. Anyway, I've never come across "faste", I was all set to engage Svenska Akademiens ordbok, but guess what, sw wiki has an article. A faste is a witness at the selling or exchange of land at the häradsting, which was the district court in the countryside. (A härad was bigger than a socken but smaller than a landskap, Drmies.) Kind of unsurprising that I didn't know about fastes, I guess. Put in "and is first recorded in 1379 when an Olof of Mem is mentioned as being witness to a land sale at the district court" if you like, but I haven't done so, because the factoid seems of pretty marginal interest to me. Who actually cares when Mem was first mentioned? Much on a par with who married whose cousin. I actually disagree with the principle that any fact is notable as long as it's really old. • Ja indeed, aber vrom eska svenska ryvita skandabrod sodastream, or to put it bluntly: this is still the only Wikipedia country house page that does not list an architect, can someone a little more happy in their use of the language email the owners and ask what they know? Then we can build this into a small category. I would think they would be delighted at the chance of an authoritative free plug. Giano (talk) 19:46, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • (Vrom? Vroom vroom?) Don't say Ryvita, say Wasabröd, if you fancy yourself as a gourmet. The last name of the architekt, Uppman, is all over the net, but nobody seems to know his first name, or anything more about him. I don't think it would look very professional to insert just the last name in the article, with neither first name nor essential dates. Yes, sw wiki does that, but then it doesn't make them look very professional, does it? Maybe if you look in one of your superior print reference works? Bishonen | talk 20:31, 25 March 2014 (UTC). PS, I've e-mailed you my thoughts re e-mailing the owners. And in any case, of bloody course they're fluent in English. The entire realm of Sodastream Sexbombska is that. • There really is no need to swear Mrs Bishonen. I was thinking of asking you write and improve the article on my own humble little home which is now available for hire at very reasonable rates. Even the rather beautiful mausoleum is available for select weddings, barmitzvahs and whatnots. While, naturally, not being of a middle-class disposition one cannot claim 'comfort'; we do, however, offer a certain "je ne sais quoi" at very affordable rates.
