Gender specification in example in error?

[edit]

In the article I read:

I-ke=bakwe [e-kwe e-wane=tsewe] kanajara-kware [e-kwe tujuri=ju].
1SG-FM =CONTRAST 1SG-GEN 1-wife=ASSOC rest-REMOTE.PAST 1SG-GEN mosquito.net=LOC
'Me, I was resting with my wife in my mosquito net.'

I know nothing about Cavineña, but in what I know of the world, it is much more seldom for a woman to have a wife than for her to have a husband. Therefore, I wonder if in the indication 1SG-FM =CONTRAST FM indeed means female, and, if so, if it might in fact have to be replaced with 1SG-ML =CONTRAST (or some similar indication for male or masculine. Or was FM used to indicate either male or female?Redav (talk) 23:37, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
