List of buildings

[edit]

Kia ora DrThneed, Paora and I have decided to expand this article. I wonder whether you could produce a Listeria list for buildings designed by Wood based on the lists for registered heritage buildings? So instead of scanning for Heritage NZ listings, it could look where P84 links to Q5056370? It would be good to have a column that returns whether it is listed by Heritage NZ and under which category. And a column for P571 (inception). Do you have time to look into that? Something like this? I didn't include image (but could) and none of these have a listing date or street address entered so I can delete those columns if you like. DrThneed (talk) 02:07, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
DrThneed, that's awesome. I'll think about what columns we'd want and am also keen to hear from Paora. By the way, I've since seen this bio and it has a nice table. I like the "notes" column as there is where we can record all sorts of things (whether it's listed, whether it's been demolished, etc). Schwede66 04:26, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The table on Harman's page works for me, but I did make it, so I would say that! I daresay I copied the format from another page. I think a general "notes" column is best, as Schwede66 says, as it is less prescriptive and more flexible, and allows for different types of information as required. Sorry my notifications are borked again. Have updated it. I'm not sure if you wanted "Location" to draw from Wikidata location property or Street address property - I can give you both if you want to squish them together. I don't think there is a way (at least, I haven't found a way) of putting more than one Wikidata item in a single column. I included the Wikidata item number as the first column as I was assuming you'd want to fill in the blanks a bit before generating a complete table to use on Wiki, and that's rather easier with that link.

Re Notes column, as mentioned I could only put one property in, so have put it with the heritage cat in it, and separate columns for demolished and the heritage listing number. You can't use a live Listeria table on enWiki anyway, so once you are happy with the table and have generated it for the final time, you can then edit the Notes column to include whatever bits of the last two columns you want. DrThneed, ok, the DYK reviewers want to get on with signing off on the hook so I've said that I'll tidy the table now. I think we should go with the following headings: Building | Image | Date | Location | Notes
It would be great if you could produce that output as a separate Listeria table as that would allow me to copy the relevant pieces of information into the "Notes" field of the final table (including date of demolition, for example). Thanks heaps! Schwede66 21:00, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've put that as a separate table underneath the first one, does that work? DrThneed (talk) 03:55, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
DrThneed, that's awesome. Thanks so much! Schwede66 04:51, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Paora, if you have time and want to help, you could research and fill out "inception" (P571) in Wikidata. The Listeria table displays that in the column "Date". And if you know of other buildings that Wood has designed, add him as "architect" (P84) in the relevant Wikidata entry. I haven't gone through the list of buildings listed in the thesis; this is going to be one very long table eventually! Schwede66 21:57, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Progress report

[edit]

DrThneed and Paora, I've dropped a table into the article. If we create additional items on Wikidata, we can use the Listeria table to create additional table rows. But for now, I'd say we can edit the table in the article. Thanks both for your help. Schwede66 22:01, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've since added St Thomas' Anglican Church (Q110998354). Schwede66 22:23, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
