@SandyGeorgia: I got the articles. But I am busy right now, I may update it tomorrow if you do not mind. --MaoGo (talk) 18:39, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@SandyGeorgia:I am maybe overthinking this, but this is what I got

Press worker Rafael González was detained at El Helicoide after working in a CNN coverage on 14 March.[1] According to SNTP, he was charged of rebellion, conspiracy and false statement.[1] On 18 March he was indicted with 45 days of custodial sentence.[2][1] According to Efecto Cocuyo his house was also raided.[1] His wife and journalist Evelys Flores considered that the detention was 'arbitrary',[2] and his sister denounced the process as irregular.[1]

There are other non reliable sources out there that are claiming he is just the driver of a security team for press workers [1]. Also I do not have a main statement about irregularity of the case aside from his family statements. Let us procede with caution, what should we keep? --MaoGo (talk) 13:28, 21 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@MaoGo:, I moved this over here, hoping you will know what you want to do with it. Regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 19:55, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Keeping it here until further news develops.--MaoGo (talk) 23:08, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

CCS Chron[edit]

This article intends to be written in English, but it's not (really). One can decipher what it is trying to say anyway, but it's either very poor writing or a poor translation. Caracas Chronicles is not a reliable source, but there are some interesting points raised here that might be found in other, reliable sources ... if you can get through the very poor writing. Templates[edit]

@MaoGo: seeing your frustration in edit summary, my suggestion is that you do away with the template and make either a list or a table (like at sanctions article). I didn't like the template anyway, because article content should never be "hidden". If you search on content in the table, you can't find it, and I'm pretty sure google can't either. And few readers will click open. I am pretty sure there is a MOS reason somewhere for not having article text in collapsed templates, because they were never allowed in articles that were presented at WP:FAC when I was delegate. I don't remember where to find that guideline, but it makes sense to me that real article content belongs in the article, not a collapsed template. Hope this helps, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:35, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@SandyGeorgia: thanks for the quick response! I will do that then. --MaoGo (talk) 13:38, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@SandyGeorgia: what do you think? I tried to use Day-Month format but it looked weird if I merge the cells like I did. Another option is to put the dates after the events.--MaoGo (talk) 13:53, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am having serious computer problems today, can't make anything work, may throw the computer in the trash and go for a walk. pls remind me to look later. very frustrated. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:06, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@MaoGo:, I'm back, much better, two suggestions. There is a way to center a table, but I can't find it right now; can you?. Also, some context should be given for each event listed, so the reader understands what Maduro was trying to cover up. Guaido's speech --> Guiaido's speech from the National Assembly on the day he launched Plan Pais (Making up that example). SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:14, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@SandyGeorgia: centered done. I will try to expand but not every AN session had a defined context. --MaoGo (talk) 19:05, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

*GNB prohíbe acceso de la prensa al Palacio Legislativo por tercera vez en nueve días (Efecto Cocuyo)

Also, if somebody is reading this, where should we cover the blockade of the AN? --MaoGo (talk) 17:19, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Have we talked about Arkiely Perfecto? There are some other chavista deputies that have also joined again to the sessions. --Jamez42 (talk) 23:59, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Jamez42: thanks for adding the two new NetBlocks reports. There is one thing that is bothering me, maybe you know better. In Guaido's meeting on 16 May with "technicians and proffesionals", was that a speech? Also what was that about? I tried to find news on Venezuelan sources that day and I couldn't get with whom he spoke. That's why I waited a little bit. --MaoGo (talk) 12:53, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Is it related to Frente Amplio? What is Frente Amplio ? --MaoGo (talk) 13:20, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No problem! Just came back home, sorry. It seems like it was, it was the day when Guaidó confirmed the talks in Norway, the meeting with the US South Command and the released of Simonovis. Frente Amplio is a coalition of opposition parties and civil society; basically the Unity Roundtable along with students, trade unions, professionals and other sectors. --Jamez42 (talk) 14:36, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

CPJ Medina[edit]

@MaoGo:, sorry, I am barely keeping up ... have you got this? https://cpj.org/2019/05/venezuela-imprisoned-jesus-medina-photojournalist.php

SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:38, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The problem with this is that he was arrested in 2018. I will try to add it to the main censorship article until further information is released.--MaoGo (talk) 17:20, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
2017, actually; I've thought about starting the article in Spanish, several organizations have demanded his release. --Jamez42 (talk) 17:33, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jamez42: do you got more info on this? He was arrested in 2018, what happened before that? --MaoGo (talk) 17:43, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@MaoGo: Hi! Sorry, I forgot to mention that Medina has been arrested twice, but it seems this has been included in the article. Please let me know if I can still help finding sources. Peace! --Jamez42 (talk) 09:11, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I ended up writing it here, it seems relevant. To be added to other articles... --MaoGo (talk) 09:48, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reshaping the article[edit]

I was thinking on having a history section. We also have the problem that under the current section titles we do not have a place to cover general statements of censorship (nor the closure of newspapers). Any ideas on how to reshape this article are welcome.--MaoGo (talk) 11:37, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Runrun.es[edit]

Runrun.es reported a block on their website, and according to them the source was Russia. It seems sources have to pick up on this, but it seems this was the article attempted to be censored was this: https://runrun.es/rr-es-plus/380996/informe-monitor-de-victimas-2018-256-personas-murieron-en-manos-de-las-faes-el-ano-pasado-en-caracas/. This seems to be the same block of this type, which I find worrisome. --Jamez42 (talk) 15:41, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Jamez42: I don't see Russia anywhere on the link you sent, only some Facebook announcement. Let's wait for RSs, it is indeed worrisome. --MaoGo (talk) 15:48, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The article is only about the new censored, so far it has only been announced in their Telegram. My guess is that they refer to a DDoS, but I hope more details are offered. --Jamez42 (talk) 15:52, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that the reports are coming out, the Press Institute denounced the attacks:Runrunes es víctima de ataques cibernéticos tras reportaje sobre las FAES, Twitter. I'd really like Netblocks to report this if possible, or at least VESinFiltro. --Jamez42 (talk) 20:18, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, let us respect the Sagan standard, but I really hope some important source covers it. --MaoGo (talk) 22:26, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Jamez42: what do you mean by chapter? --MaoGo (talk) 17:57, 31 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I think it is my Spanglish kicking in, I'm sorry. I try to mean the regional body of a larger organization, such as the Wikimedia chapters. There probably is a better word for it. --Jamez42 (talk) 18:04, 31 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The use of "Chapter/capítulo" for branches was unknown to me in en and es, it is nice to learn something new. --MaoGo (talk) 18:26, 31 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

NetBlocks is no longer reporting?[edit]

I do not know if NetBlocks is preparing a larger report or something but it forgot to report the 26 and 28 May disruptions on their website. Writing here to not forget to look for sources later. --MaoGo (talk) 10:52, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Asamblea[edit]

@Jamez42: do you know if the Asamblea was blocked yesterday Tuesday 18?--MaoGo (talk) 09:02, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Do you mean besides a media blockade? Journalists were prevented from entering yesterday, and when they did the electricity of the Assembly was cut off, during its session. --Jamez42 (talk) 13:38, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jamez42: yes the media blockade. Do you have a source to update the number?--MaoGo (talk) 14:02, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Found it. I admit it was a little difficult, I'm not sure which other outlets have reported on this. --Jamez42 (talk) 14:21, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bachelet's visit[edit]

Hi. There were protests for media blockades during Bachelet's visit. I included some information about it in the Spanish Wikipedia, but I can't translate it at the time. I'm including the text here in the talk page in case someone is interested in translating it before. --Jamez42 (talk) 13:13, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

RT disinformation investigation[edit]

A Guardian article by Robert Elliott discusses an investigation by Zinc Network of the RT coverage. Elliott describes it as "the Venezuela coup", and talks about the RT coverage behavior in the West of the 30 April events as being covered for a "disproportionate amount of time", and getting 1/3 more engagements than the BBC (2558 vs. 1780) because of their dissemination (e.g. advertising) strategies. Two days ago, RT was fined £200,000 by Ofcom for (fines article) breaking British broadcasting laws over the Skripal poisoning, with reference to other Russian-interest stories. Kingsif (talk) 14:13, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kingsif: you may try to write that piece under foreign censorship. I think it has to be written with extreme care. Later on the week I will try to look more into it.--MaoGo (talk) 15:34, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
