Current Center Street branch connected to M&E?

[edit]

Looking on various maps e.g. google and osm, it looks like the center street branch in harrison is currently connected to the M&E only, not the NEC. Is that correct? Can we include it? Jaysbro (talk) 16:53, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Would like to include...

[edit]

Up until the 1990s there was a manually thrown switch connection to PATH, which was used as part of New Jersey Transit's Bergen Shore Express service.

But I can't find a good reference for it. Jaysbro (talk) 03:56, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The only account I've found so far is this ERA bulletin from 1986: [1]. Not the best source, and it's not clear to me how the Center Street Branch was even involved, though I guess the layout changed a little when the Waterfront Connection was built? Mackensen (talk) 11:20, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mackensen based on what I've seen, by that time the center street branch was no longer connected to the northeast corridor at all, only the ex dlw m&e, and path. Jaysbro (talk) 02:30, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jaysbro I have an article from the NRHS bulletin that discusses the Bergen-Shore Express in some depth, but I think I'd need a pre-1990s track map of the area to really understand the movement (it does mention crossing PATH). Mackensen (talk) 02:02, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mackensen maybe a usgs topo map? they don't always keep up with layout changes Jaysbro (talk) 02:31, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I looked some from the 1970s/1980s via [2], but they're not detailed enough. I found a Conrail map from 1981 but the area around Kearny Junction is too tangled. Mackensen (talk) 02:47, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
