2012

[edit]

Is it worth noting that a Cessna 340A was used in the movie 2012, tail number N340SB? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Superchad (talkcontribs) 05:14, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

By consensus this sort of information doesn't go in aircraft type articles, but in Aircraft in fiction instead, and then only if you have a reliable reference that describes it and only if the inclusion of the aircraft was notable and not just a coincidental or minor appearance. - Ahunt (talk) 13:34, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Riley conversions

[edit]

Some people might find Riley and his Aircraft company interesting but that doesn't change the fact that he bought airplanes from Cessna that put different engines in them, and did Little Else. There's enough information about Riley aircraft out there that if somebody was interested in it they could make a Wikipedia about it. This page is titled Cessna 340. The airplanes that the Riley company converted do not belong on the page about the Cessna-built Aircraft. If I opened a company that Chevrolet engines in Ford Mustangs nobody would dream of putting those cars on the Mustang Wikipedia page. Riley is just a guy what different engines in airplanes. They don't even carry the name of the original airplane.Jackhammer111 (talk) 20:32, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Riley mods to the Cessna 340 are perfectly reasonable things to discuss in the article as the end production are still modified Cessna 340s - just because a modification is designed by a third party like Riley doesn't mean that mention of them needs to be purged from the article.Nigel Ish (talk) 20:39, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
These are C-340 modifications so they belong in this article. That they are cited to Janes shows their notability here. - Ahunt (talk) 21:05, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
