Disputed info[edit]

In 1827, Harriet Howard bought the house and its park.

How could she have bought the house in 1827? She was only born in 1823, and didn't actually move to France until 1848. -- roleplayer 13:27, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

sure you have the right miss? the french source is pretty clear, although it could be mistaken. [1] Pohick2 (talk) 22:32, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fairly certain I have the right Miss Howard, as she was my cousin. She wasn't a member of the Howard family, and her last name was actually Haryett as Howard was an assumed name. Her parents were Joseph Gawen Haryett and Elizabeth Alderton of Brighton in England, so they could not have been any relation to someone with the last name Howard who bought the house in 1827. Miss Howard moved to France as Prince Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte's mistress when he became president of France in 1848, and there is plenty of evidence that she was in England prior to this date. -- roleplayer 12:24, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
