Discussion

Racial make up in a jury is extremely important when race played a important role in the crime commited. I guess, "cold blood" can only be define when it's not done by white people during defense. Just remember, better be judge by 12 then carry by six, may it be by a jury of white people. -cy

The link is dead on the first reference. I don't know what to do about that, if anything. - nonbonumest

Is the racial makeup of the jury really relevant? Vang shot and killed six people in cold blood. That's murder one no matter who was on the jury (also, given the racial makeup of Ramsey County, an all-white jury is pretty much a given). Iceberg3k 20:09, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

Racial makeup being added is fine. Due to the racial tension and general race issues the media has brought up, this adds some more racial info into the article. --nn

Also, removed "Saiga SKS" and just calling it a "Saiga rifle". The rifle he used was clearly not an SKS, but is a hunting rifle from Russia that chambers the same round. Media has been misinforming us about the rifle being an SKS. I had added the serial number of the gun. --nn

HIS CHINESE NAME

So who translated his name into chinese? its missing a character. (unsigned comment)

Why put Chinese characters for his name at all? The Hmong do not use Chinese. He is not Chinese. Get rid of the misapplied Chinese name. It would make a little more sense to write it in Laotion or Thai, but it's still silly.

What is silly is your limited knowledge of the history of Laos, and its relationship with China, including cultural ties that span beyond western civlizataion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by O3423423D (talkcontribs) 06:18, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Clarification

"No shell casing was ever recovered from Willer's gun even though during the trial Hesebeck admitted to firing a single shot. Hesebeck testified no shot was ever fired."

these two sentences contradict each other. (unsigned comment)

They do indeed. I came here with the same question. Huh? Shenme 06:57, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Current Event?

Should this page have the 'Current Event' template? It seems that as of now (January 2007) nothing in this article is really a current event anymore. Blackeagle 18:52, 16 January 2007 (UTC) Those who shot at Mr. Vang you think they going to leave shell case lying around, get real! of course, they retreaved all the shell cases and disposed it. I'm so sorry for Mr. Vang and his family that he had to be locked up for the rest of his life. I don't think he is a bad person like media portrait him to be. I hope his victims family got some closure and same as Mr. vang. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.92.65.123 (talk) 21:30, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Iowa State Pen?

The article ought to explain why he's in prison in Iowa, since he was convicted of violating Wisconsin state law. Pha telegrapher 18:42, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

This article explains why Vang was moved... http://www.tcdailyplanet.net/news/2006/04/25/chai-vang-moved-iowa-prison — Preceding unsigned comment added by Msemenas (talkcontribs) 01:40, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

are you serious??

I'm personally offended by this. For the crime that he did there is no need to be posting his business up for the whole world to see. It's sort of very.. hmmm lets say.. POINTLESS! Child Molesters and Predators aren't posted on wikipedia i feel that there is no point for Chai Vang's business to be on blast for the whole world. If i type up a registered predator what are the choices of me finding them on here?? one to nothing. This blog itself is SO BIASED! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.238.91.252 (talk) 02:40, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

  • The subject of "pointlessness" is always shaped by your very point of view. What some people think of as meaningful is utterly pointless for others, and the other way round. And for child molesters not having their own articles, well, who are those then? Marc Dutroux, Albert Fish, Terry D. Clark etc. If you feel offended by the fact that there are articles about murderers and criminals then so it be. But are you also offended by articles about Al Capone, Bonnie & Clyde or Gilles de Rais. If you are consistent, then you should be, as well as of articles about Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin or George W. Bush. If the sole relevant point to judge who deserves to be written about and who not, is the morality of their deeds, then many important persons of history would long have been forgotten. This world is not only a happy place, and it is a sad truth that the more humans you kill, the more likely it is that you get your place in history. You don't have to like this, but you cannot change it either, so take it as it is. And btw, almost everything written by anyone is biased in one way or another. (Lord Gøn (talk) 15:44, 29 October 2008 (UTC))

Clear bias in investigation section.

These sentences at the end of the first paragraph of the Investigation section change tone and begin advancing arguments for the prosecution that are surely disputed by Chang. They should be removed or reframed to read as arguments made by the prosecution.

The term "Mud Duck" is often used in Western Wisconsin to refer to Minnesota residents, similar to "Cheesehead" being used to describe Wisconsin residents. Willers used this term to describe Chai Vang when he radioed back to the cabin. The term has no racial connotation, although the defense claimed it did. While it is unknown how Willers and the others knew that Vang was from Minnesota, the state is well known for having the largest population of Hmong in the United States. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.205.24.231 (talk) 05:36, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
