Split[edit]

In case anyone finds the comments below confusing, this article was previously a conflation of the Epiphanytide practice of chalking the door with a historical Scottish legal practice. I've split out the Scottish practice into its own article to end the confusion. Bmcollier (talk) 13:04, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unrelated topics[edit]

These two subjects are completely different. It's a bit like having Apple Computer and Apple Records in the same entry. They ought to be split up. Bmcollier (talk) 11:29, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Whitsun[edit]

...I have no idea what this part means. First we're talking about a Christian ritual of protection and then it goes into legalese, taken from the Britannica. The last section seems to refer to a tenant being evicted? But what on earth does "most patent door" mean? The main door of a house? What is the burgh officer doing here? Evicting someone or performing a ritual or both?--Snowgrouse (talk) 01:41, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, I came here to make the same comment as above. I do not understand a whit of it, son. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.17.134.14 (talk) 19:39, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
