Former Facebook Exec (or not)
Current news suggests Chamath Palihapitiya was a Facebook Exec, was he? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.171.133.169 (talk) 07:38, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Create controversies section
His uyghur comments certainly deserves a controversies section Thx Yakoveh (talk) 08:13, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- In general we try to avoid having stand alone controversies sections and to merge them back into other section when such a section exists. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 19:24, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

Change the incorrect spelling of "critizised" to "criticized" in the below sentence: "In April 2021, John Coates, acting director of the SEC’s corporate-finance division, critizised Palihapitiya's views on the benefits of SPACs over traditional IPOs:" Allenmenschen (talk) 16:35, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
- Done Thanks. Deauthorized. (talk) 16:51, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
Infobox Image use
The image was uploaded in 2018 and pretty sure it is not 'original work' as stated but taken from the company press release which is not CC. Any alternate image we could use? --Molochmeditates (talk) 18:37, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
Edit requests
Part of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. Steven Levy’s published work should be disputed with the author or publisher. The current citation is written in a clear NPOV and should stay in the article |
Hello, my name is Carmen I work for Chamath Palihapitiya's company Social Capital. I would like to request the following edits to the article.
- In the "Early life and education" section, please remove the following: "Dompe who is an heiress to the Dompe Group, a pharmaceutical company known for producing Oxervate the 6th most expensive drug in the world, announced via Twitter that the couple had another child in 2019. Dompe Group is also an investor in Social Capital Palihapitiya's venture fund." The inclusion of those sentences violates WP:COATRACK, discussing something that is completely off-topic and criticizing someone who is not the subject of the article in order to implicitly criticize the subject of the article.
- In the "Software engineer and manager" section, please remove the following: "Steven Levy wrote in Facebook: The Inside Story that Palihapitiya was regarded as a "bully" at Facebook. He made many of his subordinates cry regularly." The statement is based on a book that cites an evaluation of Palihapitiya's personality based on hearsay and the opinions of anonymous former Facebook employees. This is far from a neutral statement, and is certainly not a "fact", and therefore has no place in a Wikipedia article, especially a BLP.
- In the "Venture capitalist" section, I would like to add the following source to replace the "citation needed" template: https://www.privateequitywire.co.uk/2020/08/19/288743/social-capital-backs-hustle
- Also in the Venture capitalist section, please replace the entire sentence but leave the old source: "In 2021, Palihapitiya helped take Clover Health..." with the following sentence, which adds a bit of information and gives a new source for the new information: "In 2021, Palihapitiya helped take SoFi, a financial services platform,[1] and Clover Health, a Medicare insurance company, public through SPACs."

I'm pinging some editors who have recently been active on this article: Isi96, MRRaja001, Deltagammaz, S0091, Mithila Madawa Gunathilake. Thanks so much. CarmenCatSC (talk) 16:14, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- Done. Leaving this open for other editors to tackle the rest. Ferkijel (talk) 22:11, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- Not done. The citation is quoting a published work. If the citation is not correct, this should be taken up with the author. If the published work is corrected, the article can/should be ammended.
- Done.
- Done.

- Thanks for implementing most of my request Ferkijel. I want to bring to your attention that editor Igorikrasti reverted your edit removing the COATRACK sentence, stating that he does not agree that it meets the criteria of COATRACK. After closer examination of Igorikrasti, it appears that he is the same editor as Deltagammaz, the editor that originally put the information about Dompe on the page, and who, as of March 8 this year, was blocked indefinitely from editing. In addition, it is not just the short bit that you removed on the grounds of COATRACK that should be taken out, but the entire mention of Lau and Dompe in the "Early life and education" section is inappropriate and out of place. Ideally, I would like to see the entire part of the section after the word "California" moved to a "Personal life" section, with all the details about Dompe's family removed, or at least toned down. The article is about Chamath Palihapitiya, and not about his girlfriends, wives and/or ex-wives. They can certainly be mentioned in the right context, but the way this information is used here is clearly to berate the subject of the article. Thanks for all your help. CarmenCatSC (talk) 18:06, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- @CarmenCatSC: I removed the unnecessary comment again. I think that the comments about Chamath’s life already are in the right place, underneath “Early life and education”. What do other editors think? Ferkijel (talk) 18:49, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
New edit requests
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Thanks to Ferkjl for the edits you recently made. I would like to request a few more edits.
- It looks like you inadvertently took out a good source when you replaced a sentence in my previous edit request. It would be great if you can add back the following source after the following sentence: In 2021, Palihapitiya helped take SoFi, a financial services platform,[1] and Clover Health, a Medicare insurance company, public through SPACs.[2]
- Per WP:CSECTION, I request that the content of the Criticism section be integrated into the appropriate other sections of the article. The first paragraph in that section should be integrated into the beginning of the Politics section, while the remaining four paragraphs should be integrated chronologically into the "Venture capitalist" section.
- Please remove File:Clover Health CID.png from the article per MOS:TEXTASIMAGES and because it does not add anything to the understanding of the subject of the article.

Thanks so much for all your help. CarmenCatSC (talk) 19:41, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- I agree with your proposal. I moved the content from the Criticism section into other sections, replaced the accidentally deleted source, and removed the image, the most important text of which is part of the article. Ferkjl (talk) 20:54, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
