Table of locks[edit]

A table listing the locks might be useful, similar to Erie Canal#Locks. This could be done by copying the existing Erie Canal listing, and then modifying it appropriately with the Champlain Canal data, if it can be found. Reify-tech (talk) 19:31, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Clarify/add detail on route of Champlain Canal[edit]

The use of the word "follows" in the description of the Champlain Canal route is not clear to me:

"The canal begins about 3 miles (4.8 km) north of the locks at the Troy Federal Dam, at the point where the Erie Canal splits from the Hudson River. The Champlain Canal follows the Hudson River north for approximately 35 miles (56 km), with six locks providing navigation around dams on the Hudson River, until it reaches lock C-7 in Fort Edward, New York."

I assumed this meant the canal runs parallet to the river, the way the Erie Canal runs parallel to the Mohawk River. But the following sentence made me think maybe it means the Hudson River itself is considered to be the canal in that section:

"At this point, the canal follows a constructed channel for approximately 25 miles (40 km), with five additional locks, bringing the canal to the southern end of Lake Champlain at Whitehall, New York."

Since the canal from Ft Edward to Whitehall "follows a constructed channel", and the word "constructed" is not used to describe the section from Troy to Ft Edward, I am guessing the latter is not constructed, i.e. the "canal" is actually the river. But I'm not sure.

Some clarification of the wording and a map of adequate resolution would be helpful. m.m (talk) 20:16, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Canal template?[edit]

Shouldn't this be using the Template:Infobox Canal instead of Template:Infobox NRHP? It's more than just a historical place, it's in active use... --TheAnarcat (talk) 20:45, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Recreational Uses[edit]

Recreational uses by kayakers and others would be an informative section to add. I have photos and would like to add this section, if others agree.--Wikipietime (talk) 12:56, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
