Conflict of interest[edit]

per this discussion here, the article creator is editing under orders from the subjectDlohcierekim (talk) 18:49, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to address the issue regarding conflict of interest. I am not employed by Dr. Bajaj; I am employed by the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES) to perform administrative work for the Computational Visualization Center, which Dr. Bajaj directs. The director of the ICES, Dr. J. Tinsley Oden, has previously suggested to ICES faculty that Wikipedia entries for them would be helpful for individuals wishing to learn more about ICES and its Centers. ICES faculty are known worldwide for their contributions to the scientific community. The ICES Wikipedia entry lists a handful of ICES faculty already. I was tasked with creating the entry for Dr. Bajaj.

I hope that this might resolve the conflict of interest issue, and that this flag can be removed. Suzbailey23 (talk) 20:32, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That still sounds very much like a conflict of interest to me. Wikipedia articles should not be created because the subject's employer wants one to exist (although in the case of Bajaj I am certain he merits an article); that seems too close to self-promotion (where the "self" is your institute rather than its individual researchers). Rather, one should wait for a disinterested editor to create one. Please convey to your employer the inappropriateness of this request. —David Eppstein (talk) 22:33, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am willing to volunteer to check the references and get this entry cleaned up. Junenim (talk)
