Freshwater? Saltwater?[edit]

The article doesn't say explicitly what its habitat is. It sounds like a freshwater dweller. If it's a freshwater fish, that should be clearly stated in the lead-in section.—QuicksilverT @ 01:09, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification striata vs striatus[edit]

The Malay language Wikipedia has an article about "Ikan Haruan" which gives the latin names "Channa striatus" and "Ophicephalus striatus". Is this the same species as "Channa striata" or no? Is the Malay version incorrect? --Brian Z (talk) 03:56, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The name Ophiocephalus striatus is a junior synonym - ie the correct scientific name to use now is Channa striata which is because of a genus reassignment based on later studies - the species name ending is modified according to Latin grammar (feminine vs masculine endings to match the gender of the new genus name). So yes, they are the same. Shyamal (talk) 12:14, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
