Highest point?

[edit]

I was looking at this mountain in google earth and it doesn't look to be the highest point in Nigeria at all. We need to cite a source for this claim or remove it from the article. -AndrewBuck 23:14, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Chappal Wadi" is a mischievous misnomer for Gang Peak and Pinnacle in the north-east corner of the Mambilla PLateau in southeastern Taraba State of Nigeria. The ethnic and political conflict between the indigenous Mambilla people and the immigrant Fulani who have greater access to local and international media led to the suppression of the ancient name of Gang and the replacement with a non-traditional and foreign term "Chappal Wadi". "Chappal Wadi" is not the correct name of this Mountain and its location on the Mambilla Plateau is being politicized to read "Gashaka". Political and ethnic undertones relating to the highest peak in Nigeria has been deep-seated as the Fulani opinion has always been projected. It is time researchers find out its original name and location. Wikipedia article projecting a wrongful name and location description should be reviewed. The question to answer is What is the relationship of "Chappal Wadi" to Gang and Mambilla Plateau? The facts should not be hidden. Once again, "Chappal Wadi" is a misnomer for Gang Peak on the north-easternmost corner of the Mambilla Plateau, right on the tri-point boundary between Mambilla, Gashaka, and the Republic of Cameroon.
