Arbitrary heading[edit]
This should not be under Tamil Brahmins. They are a forward and respected Brahmin community. But they have never claimed to be Brahmins. They have at times considered themselves to be superior to Brahmins. In my sixty years of moving with the members of all communities in Tamil Nadu I have never heard either Acharis referring to themselves as Brahmins or being referred to as Brahmins.
They have also been agitating for being declared as Most backward from backward.
They are grouped separately Vishwakarmas
Not that it matters in real life. But it affects the credibility of Wikipedia.

- How can you say Charis are Smartha?any proof?
- This article is written in haphazard manner,there are no references,so we cannot say that the furnished information is true!

"Chari are predominantly Devi worshippers. Panchayatana puja is a prominent aspect of Devi worship[citation needed], but do not do not worship any form of Vishnu as their Kuldevta because they are Smarthas[citation needed] which is called ‘adave’[citation needed] in local language. " llll
- The term Avdem is used only by Gaud Saraswat community,and not by Dravid Brahmins nor Daivadnyas or Vaishyas who have been the followers of Sringeri Matha.
- Charis are not Smarthas,they never belonged to any of the Shankaracharya's Matha
- They Belong to Lohamath which is not a Smartha matha.
- Panchyatana puja is devised by Adi Shankara,whom they never followed,there are no such references in the History of Goa
