Sir Charles is definitely deceased, but I have searched the internet and have not been able to find a date of death from a verifiable source. Dovea

Fresh flowers

[edit]

...he was also a great admirer of Thatcher from the day she was elected leader of the Conservative Party until she resigned as Prime Minister fifteen years later, Irving paid to have fresh flowers delivered to her.

This sounds as though he delivered flowers to her every day for fifteen years. Or was it just a single farewell offering? Clarify, please. Valetude (talk) 01:23, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Schooling

[edit]

I think the reference to Glengarth school in Cheltenham must be an error. There is no reference on the web to a school of that name except those that say Irving went there, so I think they are all repeating an original error, because there was a Glyngarth boy's prep school in Cheltenham at the right time - in 1949 the building was sold to Cheltenham Ladies College [1]. FWIIW, I live in Cheltenham and know the son of the last headmaster of Glyngarth School. Kestrelsummer (talk) 20:52, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Source retained

[edit]

I've removed the text below from the main article as it seems to me quite the step to refer to sexuality when during their life they never said that themselves. However, I've retained the text and reference in case it becomes more certain if other references are located in the future.

"According to Michael McManus's book, Tory Pride and Prejudice: the Conservative Party and Homosexual Law Reform, Irving was gay"[1] and he is reported to have offered a steady stream of advice to the Conservative Campaign for Homosexual Equality.[1] Seaweed (talk) 19:11, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
