Organizing "Guests and guest hosts"

[edit]

If someone has the time, the "Guests and guest hosts section" should be organized by guest field-of-importance subsections...sort of like how university wikis are organized. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mlvand2 (talkcontribs) 03:01, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Tony Hawk from the guest list

[edit]

I removed Tony Hawk from the guest list. I know Rose interviewed him for 60 Minutes II on CBS but don't think he was on his PBS show. If someone can verify it, please reinsert. - Ted Wilkes 14:22, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you're right. When you do a search at Google Video for "tvshow:Charlie_Rose Tom Hawk" this yields just one result and that show does not include Tom Hawk. W.C. 16:59, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Guest host list

[edit]

Would anyone object to me removing the list of guest hosts? It takes up most of the article, and is not very useful. Foobaz·o< 05:16, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mean the Guests list, rather than the Guest hosts (which is quite short)? Actually, there appears to be quite a bit of interest in the guests that Rose interviews, since the list is updated daily with his interviewees. All the interviewees are notable, and Rose is certainly notable by virtue of work and in large part due to the notability of those he interviews. It is long, but I think it should stay. It could use probably some more organization however, either by category, or by year. AUTiger » talk 05:49, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, i do mean the guests list, thanks. I'm not questioning the notability of the interviewees or the interviewer, but i do question the notability of the fact that they were interviewed on the show. My main problem is that a list like this will just keep getting larger and larger. It's already ridiculously large, but because people were added one at a time, no one noticed the ridiculousness building. Some articles about shows with guests don't list them, like The Oprah Winfrey Show. Most, like Late Show with David Letterman and The Daily Show, only list a couple guests who did something on the show to set them apart from all the other guests. Please keep in mind that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. I don't think a list like this is encyclopedic. Foobaz·o< 06:03, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can see your point and yet, you can easily find lists of Simpsons, Star Trek, M*A*S*H, Futurama and who knows how many other TV series' episodes. Most of the guests linked here are far more notable than most individual episodes of fictional TV shows. Would it be palatable if it were in a separate List of Charlie Rose Show guests article? AUTiger » talk 19:03, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As i said, the guests themselves are notable, but their appearance on the show is not. I think a separate article is a great solution. Foobaz·o< 19:40, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A link to the search box on the show's web site is a great solution. The list could be replaced with a narrative of the kind of guests: US Presidents, US Presidential Candidates, US Supreme Court Justices, Politicians, Diplomats, Artists, Scientists, ... with a reference or two for each kind to actual interviews.

If not, lists on Wikipedia are suppose to have clear selection criteria. The one here should be the most outstanding that give a favor of the show and kept to a few dozen, at most. Lentower (talk) 06:21, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

They mentioned Chronic Myloid Leukaemia as a possible good candidate because it only involves one (1)chromosome-the Philadelphia Chromosome !!!I Haven't been able to find it-to view the entire show again!! - Liz

Remove guest hosts from guest list

[edit]

There is nothing encyclopedic about the specific guest hosts of this show. They should be removed from the list.

If the consensus is that they are encyclopedic, they should be placed in their own list. Lentower (talk) 06:22, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Table

[edit]

The wooden table Charlie Rose uses is a famous fixture of the show that is sometimes commented on. Today, he mentioned that it is still the original table and it was made by the Peter Roberts furniture company (Season 23, Episode 182). DonPMitchell (talk) 21:39, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Though interesting, this borders on WP:Trivia which is discouraged in articles. You also only provide a primary source, and they are not suppose to be used in editing Wikipeda articles. — Lentower (talk) 18:41, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

First Heart Surgery circa 2002 needs to be added.

[edit]

Be good to add Rose's first heart surgery to the article. It occurred about 15 years before 2017. Gusts hosts were also used. After his recovery he had a show where Rose, his mentor Bill Moyer & his Producer Yvette Vega discussed what happened. Ms. Vega was with him from diagnosis in Lebanon to the surgery in Paris & assisted with his recovery. — Lentower (talk) 21:00, 25 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Charlie Rose (TV series)Charlie Rose (talk show) – This TV show is absolutely not a "TV series" under WP:NCTV. A few sources at the article call in an "interview show", e.g. [2] (which might make it a "TV program"), but one source ([3]) calls it a "talk show", and that's probably the most accurate disambiguator as per WP:NCTV. And it looks like that's where the article originally started out, apparently (it was moved from "talk show" in 2012)... --IJBall (contribstalk) 03:29, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
