Paraphyletic?[edit]

"analysis of cpDNA (chloroplast DNA), for instance, reveals that many characteristics of plant chloroplasts evolved first in the charophycean genera Staurastrum and Zygnema"

Does than mean they evolved them convergently or that the trait is apomorphic to these algae genera and embryophyta, rendering Charophycaceae minus landplants paraphyletic?--Draco ignoramus sophomoricus (talk) 01:11, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
