Typical ingredients

[edit]

For me, cendol is the the green 'worms' and the gula Melaka and coconut milk syrup. Everything else is an optional extra. This is supported by a number of recipes, for example the Star's kuali page http://kuali.com/recipes/viewrecipe.asp?r=832 and a book I have by PeriPlus "Malaysian hawker food" neither of which mention red beans. Therefore, while red beans might be a more common then glutionous rice and grass jelly, I wouldn't call it a typical ingredient so I have modified the text accordingly. Also gula melaka is more correctly called palm sugar since normal brown sugar, while an acceptable substitute is quite different from gula melaka... Nil Einne 04:03, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
