Statements in the main like Arriva "bullying Council operators", "Arriva jumped the gun and illegally registered services..." and "...as happened in Warrington, where thankfully, they failed" indicate possible bias. --Unremitting 17:24, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It does seem a bit POV. I have cn'ed the word "illegally" and will remove it soon if someone doesn't respond with an appropriate reference. My understanding is that since deregulation, operators can register what they like, where they like. If this is challenged, and deemed to be "abuse of a monopoly position" or some such, then they can be removed. To justify calling it illegal, reference is needed to a successful injunction or similar against Arriva, if such exists. Even then, the whole paragraph could probably do with a rewrite to be encyclopedic in tone. Quackdave 14:50, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Having done a bit more research, I have now completely rewritten the paragraph in a more encyclopedic, NPOV tone. I could not find any record of a judgement in the court case, so have not speculated as to the reason for the deregistrations; I have just put everything chronologically with links. Merge proposal

[edit]

Broadly speaking I would agree that most of the current content should be merged into First Chester & The Wirral. However I do believe there may be scope for a separate article dealing with Chester City Transport prior to its sale. Perhaps at present there isn't enough material to justify this, in which case a full merge could go ahead, with the potential for historical CCT content to be split back out at a future date.

There appear to be a couple of slight discrepancies between the routes added to First Chester & The Wirral and those remaining at ChesterBus which could do with checking out before the table is removed from the latter article. (I'm not sure whether more routes have been discarded recently, or whether they've been accidentally omitted from the merge.)

I also agree that merger would be the best way forward at the moment. I suggest a redirect replaces this article, which would allow a future article to be spun off from First Chester & The Wirral if sufficient historical material about ChesterBus is added to justify a separate article at that time. Until then, have its historical stuff in a section of First Chester & The Wirral.  DDStretch  (talk) 22:11, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. If a historical article did come into being then it would probably be best named as Chester City Transport given that this was both the limited company name post 1986 as well as the trading name used prior to ChesterBus. Divy (talk) 10:20, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
