Etymology

[edit]

So what does Chigwell mean? One might assume that there was a well there, but chig? -- Evertype· 13:06, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to P. H. Reaney's 'Place-Names of Essex', it means 'Cicca's Well', Cicca being an Anglo-Saxon name.

Transport

[edit]

As per Waltham Cross, I don't see why a detailed list of public transport routes is needed. Does anyone think it is? Rogwan 21:21, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Opener

Much of Chigwell is not affluent! The entire curved section of roads is quite rundown and many working class people live there. This should be acknowledged. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.63.62.252 (talk) 15:44, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
