Fork?[edit]

Given that this page is specifically HMS Sheffield (F96), wouldn't it be sensible to separate it from the Admiralte Williams and have a picture of HMS Sheffield on this page? There are only 4 years of 14 year service covered so far on this ship, wouldn't it be nice to give the Chilean version a fresh start? Steel city ady 16:44, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As per WP:NC-SHIP and WP:SS, we typically only fork articles once they reach sufficient size. --Kralizec! (talk) 06:24, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My concern is we are duplicating and confusing items by having them share the page, e.g. the helicopter carried as Sheffield differs from the type now carried as Williams. Other ships have been forked for this reason, surely this warrants a fork for the same reason? Steel city ady (talk) 17:59, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Commanding Officers[edit]

can we get a list of the commanding officers of the HMS Sheffield? Seems like all the others have them but this one does not. Anyone know who commanded her and when?77.99.49.23 (talk) 12:16, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Conflicting information[edit]

I found this https://www.armada.cl/unidades-navales/superficie/fragatas/ff-19-almirante-williams official source from the chilean navy on the Sheffield and the information is not the same as this page, i have updated it, feel free to revert it if it is innacurate CosmiiWasTaken (talk) 14:49, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Main article title[edit]

Even though the "Move Log" shows the article was moved to the main title "Almirante Williams (FF-19)" in 2018, somehow the main title continues to be "HMS Sheffield". I wasn't able to fix this using the "Move" tool. A message says it's not possible because the article "Almirante Williams (FF-19)" already exists, but that's not true, that title only redirects to "HMS Sheffield". I'd be grateful if anyone knows how to solve this, because the article's title can't be a name that stopped being used 20 years ago. Af1391 (talk) 22:53, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The move was reverted by Llammakey (talk · contribs) the same day. Keith D (talk) 20:31, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

HMS Sheffield (F96)Almirante Williams (FF-19) – This is a warship formerly known as HMS Sheffield, but acquired by the Chilean Navy in 2003 and renamed Almirante Williams. Almirante Williams is her current name and the one she has had during most of her career. This edit had been done, but an user undid in 2018 it for absolutely no reason. Therefore, I'm unable to move the page because the target page already exists. Per WP:NC-SHIPS, the article title should be Chilean frigate Almirante Williams (FF-19) for ships of a navy that does not use a prefix. Llammakey (talk) 01:33, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
