Draft[edit]

Resolved

On behalf of African Parks via the Wyss Foundation, I am proposing this draft article about the protected area in Africa known as Chinko as part of my work at Beutler Ink. The draft demonstrates that Chinko has been described by multiple reliable secondary sources, and provides an overview of the area's terrain, wildlife, and history. I should also note, the article is requested at Wikipedia:Requested articles/Business and economics/Organizations, where there are entries for "Chinko Project" and "Chinko Project Area". The park is officially known as simply "Chinko", but I will be requesting redirect creations for these similar titles (unless someone beats me to the punch) once the draft is live. "Chinko Project Area" also appears as a red link in the Pousargues's mongoose article.

Given my conflict of interest, I will not publish or edit the article to the main space and ask volunteer editors to review the draft for accuracy, neutrality, and verifiability. Throughout this project, African Parks provided feedback to ensure accuracy. I'm happy to address any questions or concerns that may arise during the review process, and appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance. Inkian Jason (talk) 17:37, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewing your draft[edit]

I find the draft article satisfactory and I don't find it overly promotional. It is well referenced and well organised and looks ready to go live. One point:

  • In the list of mammals, "monkeys" should not be part way through the list of antelopes, and would be better after chimpanzee. You should make these all singular or all plural. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:46, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Cwmhiraeth: Thank you for reviewing this draft. I changed the order and made all mentions in the sentence singular. Please let me know if you have any other edits or questions at all. Inkian Jason (talk) 18:27, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I plan to move this early next week, unless anyone else has done it first. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:17, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think that "Chinko Nature Reserve" is a better title than "Chinko". What do you think? In either case, the other title and "Chinko Project Area" can be added as redirects. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:03, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cwmhiraeth: I've been submitting requests to have park pages moved to their official titles. In this case, since Chinko is the official title, and there is not a page by this name, I would recommend using this title. I would also argue that "Chinko Nature Reserve" is not the most commonly used name for this area ("Chinko Nature Reserve" yields only 618 search results at Google, while "Chinko Project" yields 33,400 returns). As I mentioned above, I plan to submit requests to have Chinko Project, Chinko Nature Reserve, and Chinko Project Area created as redirects, unless you or someone else does this first. @Cwmhiraeth: Thank you so much for moving the draft into the main space and creating redirects as well. Unless you object, I'll remove the Chinko entries at Wikipedia:Requested articles/Business and economics/Organizations. I'll be posting a request to improve the Liuwa Plain National Park article next, if you're interested. Thanks again! Inkian Jason (talk)

Title[edit]

This, so for, is an informal exploration into a title change to Chinko Nature Reserve which is a redirect. The reasons are, 1)- It is less ambiguous, 2)- all articles I ran across denote in the title either "National Park", Manovo-Gounda St. Floris National Park, Bamingui-Bangoran National Park, "Reserve", Dzanga-Sangha Reserve, Yata Ngaya Faunal Reserve, Dzanga-Sangha Special Reserve, etc..., so it would be consistent with other titles. == Otr500 (talk) 11:33, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
