--Jondel 07:50, 26 August 2006 (UTC)The links used to work, now they don't . I guess they should be removed.[reply]

Citizenship

[edit]

Is he Filipino, or otherwise, as his filing under the Foreigners in the Philippines category suggests?

I trust his classification as “Spanish-Filipino” in the opening paragraph answers that.
He has Spanbish citizenship according to the article and the sixth line of this. I^ve read this in other external articles and am sure of this.--Jondel 05:52, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I see. But being a Filipino citizen (Spanish-Filipino) as well, he can’t also be a foreigner.

POV

[edit]

I've tagged this article with the NPOV tag because something doesn't sit quite well: more than half of the article discusses the defense which, upon reading carefully, was made after the judgment has already been finalized by the Philippine Supreme Court. Most of the links are also sympathetic to the defense; it's not that I'm judging the person, but this article's point of view can also be balanced by how the media (local and international) has reported his case. Thanks --- Tito Pao 12:31, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please feel free to post links and other info to balance the article.--Jondel 12:22, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PBS "Point of View" Documentary

[edit]

Do the primary sources agree on the timeline of various sentences? The PBS "POV" documentary program states that the defendants were initially sentenced to two life terms, and that the death sentence was imposted after the case was review when the sentence was appealed by the prosecution. rhyre (talk) 14:37, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Defense section

[edit]

I came to this article after watching a summary of this case in a Youtube clip, and noticed that the Defense section does not mention that as support of Larrañaga having been at the claimed restaurant, photographes of him at that restaurant were presented as proof of this. These photographes were also displayed in the clip, wherefore they evidently existed, so to speak. I just thought that it might be of value to mention in the article. - Okama-San (talk) 18:46, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An illuminating account

[edit]

The account given here - https://thecasualcriminalist.com/podcasts/the-chiong-sisters-the-most-insane-miscarriage-of-justice/ - contains a lot of context and detail not in this article, and should be a good starting-point for an interested reader to conduct their own research. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.109.195.195 (talk) 21:23, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
