Secondary Education

[edit]

Its funny how the secondary school was closed down, and now there are around 6 (maybe more) buses that operate in Ongar to take students to other schools. And with 5 primary schools within the local area (Ongar, Shelley, High Ongar, Moreton, Fyfield), the future generations will need it just as well. Ahh well.. 91.84.7.89 16:10, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Population

[edit]

Noting recent changes made to this article to add population I would like to test whether this is the correct number. According to Epping Forest DC, the census showed the Parish of Ongar to have a population of 6069. I gather that the (civil) parish and town of Chipping Ongar (the subject of this article) may not be quite the same (e.g. are High Ongar or Marden Ash in the Parish?) and so the population of teh town may be somewhat lower. Transport

[edit]

I have made an edit that talks more about transport in the town, rather than what used to be available.(Spymo (talk) 13:05, 24 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

[edit]

"The Star" was published in 1806; the Taylors didn't move to Ongar, as far as I can tell, until 1811. So, it seems quite unlikely that "TTLS" was written there. She is buried there, so I put that in. Brianyoumans (talk) 19:47, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

origin of the name

[edit]

Since it reads: The name "Ongar" means "grass land" thought it well to add: (akin to the German word: Anger) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.151.234.31 (talk) 08:54, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
