Lot 8

[edit]

I'm glad that somebody created this article and I think she deserves one... The text of this article was taken directly (not by me) from the Lot 8 website.[1] I don't think this is an issue. --AStanhope 02:38, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

hmm i guess if it's her text then that's ok... still feels kinda iffy like a copyright violation. but regardless, words like "of couse", totally unacceptable for an article... this comment is more of a bookmark for me, but i agree with the motion to clean up the article--Htmlism 04:29, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely. I strongly agree. --AStanhope 05:03, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly, unless the other website puts it up (and/or says 'hey this is cool' or is a GDFL), it's infringement. I wrote up a short (crummy) temporary re-write which is a start and similar to the stubs other people have. -- Ipstenu 14:12, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You need to summarize some other articles in your own words and then add them as referecnes. If you copy something verbatim off of another website (without explicit permission) you are committing a copy vio. I don't know who this person is, but if they feel strongly enougjh about needing the article, they should take the time to rewrite an original article summarizing the currently available work on her. If you need assiatance, just ping me on my talk page. I would be glad to help. (Arundhati Bakshi (talkcontribs)) 12:55, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please edit the top biographical section from "who all came over from Vietnam after the war with her parents" (first paragraph, 5th sentence) "to who all came over from Vietnam with her parents after the war". The way it's written makes it sounds as if there was a war "with the parents".

Birth year 1973

[edit]

Whoever put her birth year as 1973 ... that doesn't make sense. It's been widely quoted in the press that she is 34 years old right now, which makes her birth year either 1971 or 1972. Crunch 02:52, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, that's not true...this article from the Detroit Free Press on Daniel V. puts her at 33, which would make her born in 72 at the latest. I've been trying to find a cite for the 1973 date but have been unsuccessful...Scarletsmith 15:11, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Free Press is one of the few of hundreds and it's obviously just using the age on the Bravo web site which is from last summer. It's not a quote from Daniel V. Almost every other article puts her at 34, including the Forbes article listed as a reference for this article. Just Google -- Chloe Dao 34 -- to see. In fact, the bio at her own Lot 8 web site says she came to the United States at the age of 8 and she came to the United States in 1979. Can you do the math? Crunch 11:52, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I'm wondering what's the reason to unlink to Pakse in the first sentence. I did add the link twice, but it was removed twice also. Anyone can point me out?

It's back. Let's see if it sticks. Crunch 12:17, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Houston Community College

[edit]

The Houston Community College System is comprised of six separate colleges. Does anyone know which specific college Dao attended? Beginning 22:28, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Preceded/Succeeded by

[edit]

Is there any reason why it is listed that she is succeeded by Jeffrey Sebelia? Is this true or is it just an overzealous fan?

This just means that he won the season of project runway after her. Patrick-LOT8 Team member 09:40, 18 February 2009

Non-POV stuff?

[edit]

A couple of the lines in the "After Project Runway" section seem a bit aggrandising:

"Dao's reputation for understanding women and their bodies landed her a contract..."

and

"In 2008 her style and modern sensibility led her to..."

both sound like the sort of thing you'd read in an official biography, rather than an impartial encyclopaedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.4.203.128 (talk) 19:23, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
