MALACCA STRAITS

[edit]

The most significant choke point along the entire malacca straits is found at phillips channel, between singapore and indonesia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.15.1.53 (talk) 14:02, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cape Horn

[edit]

[[I'm not sure how Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope can be considered choke points, especially the latter. The Drake Passage between Cape Horn and Antarctica is almost 1 000 km wide - hardly a narrow strait like Gibraltar or Malacca. From the Cape of Good Hope the Atlantic and Southern Oceans stretch for over 3 500km south to Antarctica. Booshank 20:57, 15 August 2007 (UTC)]][reply]

what is a choke point?

[edit]

A choke point is a narrow pipe in which oil can travel. These points can easily be disrupted by a simple thing. Choke points are extremely important, because of how useful they are in transportation in oil. The Straight of Hormuz is a extremely important straight connecting the Arabic Sea and the Persian gulf. Without this choke point Saudi Arabia's oil couldn't be transported without to other countries across the Persian Gulf.

Oresund

[edit]

Oresund is the second most trafficked strait in the world I have heard and I would describe the boat traffic in this narrow passage as a bottleneck. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.208.231.197 (talk) 10:39, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

English Channel

[edit]

One important choke point, not identified by John Arbuthnot Fisher in his defense of continued British colonialism, is the English Channel! --Philip Baird Shearer (talk) 13:11, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
