Twitter Poll section[edit]

  • User:Yaazheesan has added this section into the article, I am not entirely convinced if this twitter poll deserves its own section. --DBigXray 17:19, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Moved from Chowkidar Chor Hai
What is India's mood? (Twitter Poll)

Odisha Congress State President, Niranjan Patnaik, ran online in mircroblogging site Twitter.[1] The poll question read, "Let's settle this— What is India's mood?" with 'Chowkidar Chor Hai' and 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' as two options.[2] The poll was undertaken for 24 hours starting March 17 and nearly 2 Lakh users had taken this poll. This is one of twitter’s biggest online poll in recent electoral history. The poll result showed that 52% of the voters agreed with the option 'Chowkidar Chor Hai' and rest of the voters agreed on 'Main Bhi Chowkidar'.

Very insulting name of the article[edit]

Please note that this comment was made by opposition party leader regarding the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi. I do not know what needs to be done now with this article or title, but please understand that this title itself is very insulting and can create lot of anger in people. Or is that the purpose of this article? Thank you. -- Abhijeet Safai (talk) 07:31, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Chowkidar Chor HaiMain Bhi Chowkidar

As mentioned on the AfD, there are more than 30,00,000 results on Google news for "Main Bhi Chowkidar" but only 5,00,000 results for "Chowkidar Chor Hai".

Per WP:COMMONNAME, the page should be moved. This complies with WP:BLP because present title is just an absurd allegation by an opposition leader to the Prime minister of India, while proposed title "Main Bhi Chowkidar" is a self-admission by the Prime minister. 103.220.38.163 (talk) 13:26, 31 March 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. DannyS712 (talk) 22:39, 11 April 2019 (UTC)--Relisting. B dash (talk) 04:41, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This article insults the Honorable Prime Minister of India and this act is result of cyber misdeed by his political enemies. Please delete this content as it insults the huge mandate he has currently. He is world leader and more importantly Chowkidar of Indian interest.  — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abhichd (talkcontribs) 15:59, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Using BOLDED wikilinks does not really help if you fail to back it up with proper justification. read WP:JUSTAPOLICY for more. The so called "newest" sources you posted are discussing "Main Bhi Chowkidar" because Modi did an event on Main Bhi Chowkidar on 31 March [6]. • Oppose per DBigXray. Akhiljaxxn (talk) 17:28, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The OP's reasoning is quite confusing. COMMONNAME applies to different names used for a single phenomenon. The proposed new title, on the other hand, is a slogan coined in response to the one discussed here. COMMONNAME is quite irrelevant. The real question is whether we need a separate article or not. I'm not 100% convinced that we need an article separate from the two campaign articles. But if a standalone article about the slogan is to exist, this is the title for it. Vanamonde (Talk) 19:46, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support as proposed title is far more common than "Chowkidar Chor Hai", which is unpopular and almost outdated. There is no reason not to change the title now. Dheerajmpai23 (talk) 01:52, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • If something with 5,00,000 Google News hits is called unpopular, then I don't know what will be called popular. FYI, Wikipedia articles are not based on popularity but on Notability. There is no such thing called outdated on wikipedia, Once notable, always notable. The Question of notability has already been answered at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Chowkidar_Chor_Hai where the community unanimously agreed that this is a notable subject. So let's not raise the notability issue again. Agree with Vanamonde. I find it humorous to see folks commenting Support without realizing these 2 seperate slogans do not mean the same thing. WP:COMMONNAME is invoked when there are 2 competing names for the same thing. But here we have 2 seperate slogans. It is obvious that some users are commenting on the basis of their personal bias instead of logic.--DBigXray 11:58, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
2 of these slogans concern same subject. But we should switch the title to the more common slogan since one slogan (main bhi chowkidar) is much more popular than other one (chowkidar chor hai). Srijanx22 (talk) 18:20, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What subject are you talking about? The article subject is "Chowkidar chor hai", a hindi slogan that means, "The watchman is a thief" The subject of the article is this slogan "Chowkidar chor hai", and not Modi. The subject is notable based on AfD result and its article has its own structure. "Mai Bhi Chowkidar" is another slogan that is a response to this original slogan "Chowkidar Chor hai" and now has also been copied to the article Bharatiya Janata Party campaign for the 2019 Indian general election. Did you understand when I stated above that The article and its title is notable in itself and its notability does not decrease on the number of hits for other slogans. The article won't be deleted or renamed just because some BJP/Modi supporters are pissed off with the slogan and wanted it to be first deleted and when that did not worked out, now renamed to another slogan with mass WP:CANVASSING. Wikipedia, does not really work that way, stuffing the ballot box is of no use and comments not based on any policy based justification will simply be discarded.--DBigXray 04:21, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • A trivial slogan doesn't get sustained coverage in the international media and millions of google hits as OP pointed above, you can read WP:SIGCOV to understand more about what constitutes notability. The question of notability is not being discussed here since it was already addressed at the AfD. --DBigXray 06:06, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merge to - Indian National Congress campaign for the 2019 Indian general election[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
Currently there is no consensus to merge. Pratyush (talk) 16:41, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Since this article is just about a slogan of the bigger campaign, it is better to merge this article to Indian National Congress campaign for the 2019 Indian general election. Notability is a concern about this article too.Soarwakes (talk) 09:26, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • The Question about the WP:Notability of this article has already been answered at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Chowkidar_Chor_Hai please read the discussion and understand why and how. Please read WP:STICK and follow it. If you disagree with the close of the AfD then discuss it with the closing admin. It is obvious to me that users supporting a particular political party are doing everything that can possibly be done to get rid of this article. First AfD and then multiple merge / rename threads. --DBigXray 11:56, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Merger was not discussed in the AFD. Soarwakes (talk) 14:27, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A merger is done when the article is deemed non notable, or there are good reasons per WP:MERGEREASON. None of them are applicable here. An article is not merged because WP:YOUDONTLIKEIT
When an article is at WP:AfD, (Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Chowkidar_Chor_Hai) all possible options are thought of and considered. The AfD was closed as keep and hence its notable has been agreed upon. The community has decided in AfD that this article is notable in its own capacity. A merger is now moot. You are free to copy content to other articles but this article will exist independently since it is a notable topic. stop edit warring over this. or you will be reported.--DBigXray 15:06, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merge. This slogan is part of congress campaign in 2019 election.Sumit Singh T 11:11, 2 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose It is obvious that supporters of BJP are trying (by Wikipedia:Stuffing the ballot box to get rid of this article, since they find it obnoxious and against their supreme leader (as evident in the threads above). Even if Congress has been using this slogan, this slogan has been in the news for more than 7 months now, (well before the election Campaign started) and it is individually notable. The notability is proven since the article has passed the gold test of WP:AFD The article and its title is notable in itself and its notability does not decrease on the number of hits for other slogans. First this article was nominated for AfD and on getting a WP:SNOW KEEP result a move request was started and now a merge thread. obvious signs of not dropping the WP:STICK. Not sure why the OP calls it non notable but as the numbers above show, Chowkidar Chor Hai is a highly Notable Election campaign slogan that is used by both BJP and Congress party, This has been covered in reliable sources both national and international for six, months now and was first used five years back and since then been regularly used by Narendra Modi. Achhe din aane waale hain was another slogan used by BJP that has its own article. Category:Political catchphrases and Category:Indian political slogans pages would make it clear to anyone that Wikipedia covers notable political slogans.--DBigXray 18:51, 2 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support -- This is not worthy enough of an encyclopedic article. WP:NOPAGE. WBGconverse 11:28, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • You are wrongly claiming that the article is non notable. The notability question has been decided at the AfD overwhelmingly in favour of the article. See WP:JUSTAPOLICY, you have failed to clarify how WP:NOPAGE applies here. This article already contains all the necessary contextual information that a reader needs to understand the subject. --DBigXray 08:45, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose The article is notable and is one of the political catchphrases which qualifies to have a separate Wikipedia page. It is not just a part of the political campaign but lot has been said about it in the mainstream media and by the top court of India. Rather, its mention should be there in the Indian National COngress page with an internal link to this page for more details. Edwige9 (talk) 15:11, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose merger of the slogan article into campaign article. The slogan has had it's own notability which will and is still outliving the campaign. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 14:17, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose And close. Clearly no consensus for merging. I see no case for merging.BabbaQ (talk) 15:18, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Article is non-neutral[edit]

The current version of the article is non-neutral (WP:NPV). Because, no criticism that came against the slogan is mentioned at all, and on the contrary, all content is about the support given to the slogan. On the other side, half of the content in the Main Bhi Chowkidar sub-section is criticism. This makes the article unbalanced. 2405:204:D20A:8361:19A0:C545:FE1B:EC4E (talk) 11:04, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please read and familiarize yourself with WP:CSECTION. The criticism is a part of the section titled "Response". Feel free to expand it. Main Bhi Chowkidar is now a new article, You can add whatever you would like to add here and on Main Bhi Chowkidar.--DBigXray 11:27, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Why there is no criticism against the slogan is added in the Response section ? Did it only got positive response ? Because I am only seeing the positive responses here. Just pointing out the article's non-neutral writing. 2405:204:D20A:8361:10C6:67EB:193D:ED2E (talk) 06:16, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Open your eyes and read that section again. It already includes criticism against the slogan. If you want to add more then Please see WP:SOFIXIT
If you are claiming that the article is not neutral, then you have to specify here in this section, which line is not neutral, so that it can be fixed. If you are claiming that criticism is not included, mention specifically with a reliable source, the content that is missed out, so that it can be included. It seems you are only interested in WP:TAGBOMBs, instead of COLLABORATIVE article improvement. --DBigXray 06:58, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Am I missing here something. Can you specify which part in this article criticize the Chowkidar Chor Hai slogan ? The one who add a tag has no obligation to fix it, that's why a tag is added, if you want that gone, you fix it. 137.97.62.162 (talk) 13:43, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you are missing to specify what "Exact" criticism is not added and also you did not provide any reference for that criticism that you are claiming is lacking here. --DBigXray 17:55, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
