Birth name
[edit]Something's not adding up here.
His Allmusic bio lists him as Christian Cagle.[1] However, User:Jmhtn6 is disputing this but couldn't provide anything more authoritative than an interactive CD from the artist's fan club that says he was born Christopher Norris Cagle. (IMDB, faqs.org, tv.com, and other user-editable sources—which are not reliable—call him Christopher Norris Cagle also.)
I went digging on ASCAP. I did a search there ([2] for the search page; sorry, but results pages seem to be dynamic) for "Chris Cagle". I got two record hits: one for "Cagle Chris" and one for "Cagle Christopher N". Even though they have different CAE/IPI numbers, they have the same list of titles. Based on that, I'm willing to say that the writer of those songs uses the name Christopher N. Cagle.
My hunch is that Allmusic has the birth name wrong (Lady Gaga's alleged birth in Yonkers, anybody?), but I can't back it up, and I don't think I have strong enough sourcing yet. Any input from anybody else? —C.Fred (talk) 02:03, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
- His birth name is Christopher Norris Cagle. Check the public records of the court case he lost to his former manager, Mark Hybner. I can personally verify this is his birth name as an ex-roommate and the producer of his first three albums. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.24.192.224 (talk) 10:29, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- The Nashville City Paper corroborates Christopher N. in this story about the Hybner lawsuit.[3] The Court of Appeals of Tennessee doesn't call him anything more than Christopher in its ruling.[4] I'd say there's sufficient sourcing to verify the first name and middle initial, but not yet the middle name. —C.Fred (talk) 16:17, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- "REASONING" = (:Because that is his Legal birth name not his "stage name"). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.28.132.32 (talk • contribs) 11:32, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
