Neutrality
[edit]This article seems excessively promotional for a neutral encyclopedia, consisting of a large number of reviews for the author's book.Kjack1071 (talk) 20:18, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
- Agreed, a major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with the subject, and they have reverted my changes to the article without any sort of explanation. I added a COI template to the page, but was reverted by the user. Calibrador (talk) 01:03, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
- I also agree with the critique that this seems excessively promotional. An editor who appears to have close connections to the subject also removed a number of my factual citations and edits with no explanation. CatBearMouseLion (talk) 16:37, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

Removal of valid content
[edit]Hello, fellow Wikipedians! I'm working to learn the appropriate etiquette here, but I am eager to learn and happy for feedback. This article appears to be excessively promotional, and to provide a more neutral overview of the subject, I included a number of publicly available and well-cited aspects of DeRose's career. They were all removed by a user named Buryjunk, who appears to have a connection to DeRose and provided no explanation. I added them back - is there anything else I should be doing?
Thanks! CatBearMouseLion (talk) 18:39, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
I would recommend against editing articles for subjects you have personal vendettas against. This is the only article you’ve made any substantive changes to (as midnight approached on New Years Eve). They were uniformly negative and some arguably defamatory (accusing a book reviewer of improper bias and inventing a title the subject never held, to name two. Please see Wikipedia’s guidelines for posting on living subjects and stick to articles in which you have no personal investment. Buryjunk (talk) 01:32, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
Hello Buryjunk. I would like to discuss all the edits that I included and that you reverted. They are all true statements with citations, so I would like to know your rationale for deleting the facts and the sources.
I am additionally unclear on your accusations about a book reviewer’s improper bias. If you are referring to the fact Human Events and Regnery share ownership, that is a relevant fact. I am open to your suggestions on how to include this fact.
You also say that I invented a title the subject never held. If you are referring to the word “interim” in DeRose’s appointed clerk position, that was the term clearly used by multiple credible news outlets at the time.
I look forward to understanding your edits, which removed factual and documented information. CatBearMouseLion (talk) 02:08, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- 'interim clerk' does not appear to be very well sourced, I can only find two sources, and one of them specifically published a correction retracting 'interim' https://azcapitoltimes.com/news/2019/09/11/supervisors-pick-panel-to-vet-county-attorney-prospects/ Do you have a link to any of the other multiple outlets who used this term? JeffUK 09:07, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
- I agree that the review from the same publisher is problematic, rather than implying some conflict or impropriety in the text, I think it better to simply remove that review as it's clearly not a neutral source JeffUK 09:47, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
Thanks!
DeRose was described as the interim clerk in multiple outlets on multiple occasions, including the state’s largest newspaper, the Arizona Republic.
The East Valley Tribune, the state’s second largest paper, described DeRose as interim in Oct 2019. https://www.eastvalleytribune.com/news/former-mesa-prosecutor-seeks-county-attorney-post/article_81c308e4-e485-11e9-a995-3fa25194f7e2.html
The Phoenix New Times described Derose as interim on Nov. 27, 2018. https://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/news/arizona-senate-justice-bolick-governor-ducey-appoint-bill-montgomery-11051364
Further, in press releases from Ducey’s office about similar positions in other counties, the Governor himself describes the position as interim. Such press releases were reprinted in publications that cover Mohave and Pinal counties.

Perhaps instead of capitalizing Interim as part of the title, it would be preferred to use interim in the lowercase, as these publications consistently did. CatBearMouseLion (talk) 13:56, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
