Infoboxes

[edit]

Is there a way to merge or simplify the infoboxes? His date and place of birth appears three times, which seems unnecessary. --Jameboy (talk) 20:53, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merging, no. Simplifying, yes. It doesn't look pretty, but there is now no duplication of basic biographical information.—MDCollins (talk) 00:55, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sportsman?

[edit]

I think he's very marginal for notability as a (former) sportsman at best, and is clearly predominantly so as a broadcast journalist and presenter. If anything more notable as a dancer than as a sportsman! (Heaven preserve us.) So I think it's given undue weight at present, and I'd suggest factoring it out of the lead sentence placing this info later in the opening para. Further sections seem fine. (OK I should probably just make this edit myself and see what happens, but given the whole sport-notability farrago I might be feeling a little gunshy...) 109.255.211.6 (talk) 02:51, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Relatedly, we have another common sportsball article vice: the infobox from heck. Endless scrolling 'below the fold' to little purpose. In particular the football portion contains no real useful information at all, much less the 'key details', per the style guidance, and just serves to demote the at-least-marginally-notable cricket stuff yet further down the page. I propose to remove that entirely, though really any sort of sport-focused IB is kinda missing the point. Would a secondary IB for the cricket stuff work, or is that stylistically even worse? 109.255.211.6 (talk) 04:08, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
