NPOV noticeboard[edit]

While I support Becritical's edit here, it is unfortunate that there is good information and good sourcing in what is removed. To move information from articles to Wikipedia, follow WP:BLP and make sure sources meet WP:RS. The removal is not about the criticism; this is about preventing the insertion unnecessary bias, interpretation, and WP:OR into published statements. Blue Rasberry 20:56, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Right, note the first removal "Kelly was also responsible for exposing minors to sex offenders while at Facebook. " I'm not sure what some of the parts of the section you put back in actually have to do with Kelly or why it would belong... that was written by his enemies to try to tie him to sex offenders. I reviewed the content, and removed most of it, not because it was a BLP violation, but because it was unclear how it related to Kelly rather than Facebook itself. What was his role? Becritical (talk) 21:12, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Becritical, he was the chief privacy officer of Facebook, with ultimate authority over privacy issues. I don't mind if some of the tone is changed, I'll admit that I'm something of a privacy advocate, however his job was to review the privacy issues for Facebook, and thus, it is relevant. --76.14.71.109 (talk) 21:42, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Facebook Career[edit]

I have tried to include as much information as possible re his role at Facebook. As Chief Privacy Officer, he had ultimate authority over all privacy issues. I have emphasized his role, but as you can see from the Times Online story, he was the public face of Facebook on privacy and the protection of minors. Thus, it is noteworty. I had to remove part of it, specifically the section dealing with the New York class action suit. The text made substantial statements that could not be supported by the source. The timeline wasn't clear in the source, and no statement as to a cause-and-effect relationship can be supported by the source.—Kww(talk) 21:52, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I added an additional source that makes the timeline clear and made the timeline more clear. The CNET source goes specifically through the timeline, blow by blow. The source includes a quote by Kelly stating that it was an investigation that became a cooperative effort and that they had slipped up.--76.21.100.98 (talk) 15:44, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ELeigh, he was the Chief Privacy officer of Facebook. There are (were) links of Kelly promoting the program and dealing with the privacy fallout afterward. LAbaseballFan, yes, he was the Chief Privacy office at Facebook. And, yes, there is congressional testimony with Chris Kelly discussing Beacon. However, the previous version asserted that he was solely responsible for Beacon - he was not - and solely responsibly for promoting - he was not- was misleading readers, so I took it down. You right that there is controversy about that program and that he did say "they messed up" but Facebook also had an opt-out/opt-in component of Beacon, which I had tried to included that wasn't being included earlier. There seems to be an edit war in this election. For this article, Kamala Harris and Rocky Delgadillo, these articles are extremely active, with warring edits. They are also in an election fight. Additional moderation is necessary.--LAbaseballFan (talk) 04:38, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is first-person Congressional Testimony not a reliable source? He has testified several times on Beacon as Facebook's Chief Privacy Officer. I linked to one such occasion (which you removed), and here's another from an official US Government website. His role while at Facebook was to oversee all privacy issues, as he has even stated himself. Beacon is a privacy issue that was handled completely during his tenure.
