I have moved the paragraph below from the article page. RolandR (talk) 15:08, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disclaimer

[edit]

Disclaimer: Wikipedia, for those that are not aware, till I found out myself, is able to be edited by anybody.

I am open to people "contributing" their own story about me. I did things in the past that are well documented in tv documentaries, numerous media reports and a number of online submissions. But some of the information being added is very selective and is false. Sources that are being cited are not credible but accepted by Wikipedia due to simply having a web address. I have offered to those that are editing this page to be open to an interview by them on the subject matter. Still awaiting their reply. This is sad. Wikipedia is writing about him, but isn't interested in taking his views as evidence, or giving him a right of reply. This will end badly.--Scott Mac 15:11, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Chris - why don't you detail which statements in the article aren't true or are poorly balanced? What should be included that isn't, and what is included that shouldn't be? Hipocrite (talk) 15:24, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
exactly. Seeing the issue as a black/white one will get us nowhere, so breaking it down and moving forward is a good way to go. Casliber (talk · contribs) 15:28, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pleased to see the subject participating here to help rectify any imbalances or errors. Naturally any edits along these lines will have to be supported by sources in the usual way. In any event I too encourage Chris to participate (though a read of WP:COI might be advisable). Nomoskedasticity (talk) 16:13, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality/lead sentence

[edit]

Do we have a citation for the subjects nationality? Also, maybe the lead could read....is a Canadian former dolphin broker....thanks, --Threeafterthree (talk) 15:37, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. First off, it'd be good to get a source for some basic biographic details to make the whole article more rounded and general/encyclopedic. I am trying to type in some permutations to google to see what comes up, but I am not too familiar with the reliablity of canadian websites and news sources. Update - not looking great. Need some decent access to any detailed interview in print media (if any exist...) Casliber (talk · contribs) 16:08, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • So to Chris Porter, when you next take a look here - what would be very helpful to the tone is some biographic information to make for a well rounded article. If you can recall an interview article somewhere and can point us in the right direction, that would be great. Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 16:27, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • NOT SURE WHERE TO PUT THIS OR HOW TO USE THIS TALK PAGE... This is Chris Porter. There are numerous media references on FreeThePod.org regarding the dolphins. This article appeared in TimeFinder's Magazine that was an interview on the subject and the intracies. http://timefindersmagazine.com/articles/worldly/318-chris-porter-politics-of-the-dolphins More changes are being done during the evolution that includes past work I have done but those are in development.

I got involved on this page as saw people using references that were biased and unfounded. If we keep to the facts then things should be straight. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Christopher porter 21 (talkcontribs) 21:09, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes this is the ideal place to post information like reliable secondary references for use in the article, if you are Christopher Porter (or indeed anyone else). I have also left a few suggestions at the talk page for your own account which might be useful. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 22:15, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In the lead, currently it says what he was, but not what he is now. Is there a title we can use? Instead of "Christopher Porter was a ..." I think it would be better (and probably fairer) to lead with a statement about what he does today, and then provide the context of his prior work. Only, I can't think of the proper title. - Bilby (talk) 06:32, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for balancing this story. The story is an open book as is evident with Dolphin Dealer and Blood Dolpin$ tv series but I get tired of aspects that are one sided and it is great to see the balanced approach this collective group is taking. "the biggest buyer and seller of dolphins in the world"

[edit]

The reference linked to that statement does not actually mention that he was in fact the "biggest buyer and seller of dolphins in the world". This sounds rather self-promotional to me. Isn't there a less sensational, more accurate way to describe his former activity? Unless there is some verifiable proof that he was the "biggest buyer and seller", would it not make sense to simply describe him as "former dolphin trader"?
