Domain name?[edit]

chrome://dino is a locally-defined URI in Chrome, not a DNS name, but the {{R from domain name}} rcat keeps getting added. Does it really apply here? DefaultFree (talk) 17:35, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The previous version (as edited by you) used {{R from URL}}, which redirects to {{R from domain name}} and produces an identical result ("from a domain name"). InfiniteNexus (talk) 17:39, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That is true, and it's also true that URLs are not domain names. A URL often contains a domain name, but not always. In this case, it doesn't - 'dino' is defined locally by Chrome, rather than globally by ICANN.
In retrospect, I'm not sure my previous {{R from URL}} tag was totally accurate either, since arguably this is a URI, not a URL, as it doesn't specify a network location. DefaultFree (talk) 18:40, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
